Inspecting an SRT8

Hey -

I'm looking to buy an SRT8. I've seen a few across the country that I'm interested in if I can come to terms on price that gives me some room to pay for shipping.

Before that happens though, what's the best way to get the car inspected closely to make sure I'm not buying into any problems? I don't have time to fly across the country to inspect the car myself and drive it home. Should I have it taken to a Chrysler dealer or is there an independent guy that would do it? Anyone here have experience buying a car sight unseen?

Main issues with any of the C's is tie rod ends, but because your looking at the SRT8 have the car taken to a dealer and have them inspect everything

look for:
- if 2006 or older, check to make sure the rotors are slotted and that the coolant isn't cottage cheesy (both were fixed by a TSB)
- check the front fascia - that it's attached properly, that the rubber underneath is in the right position and not torn, that there's no tearing of the rubber around the 2 front wheel wells.
- check that the front ash tray stays closed after opening it (really)
- if the sound system has the option for the kicker in the trunk, check the radio reception carefully. many SRT kicker systems were installed with faulty amps that caused a lot of radio interference.
- check the sunroof for noise at high speed (if applicable).
- don't forget to blow out the carbon.

edit: nevermind, misread your question!

It might be possible that one of our members here lives near the dealer and can scout it out for you. They might even take some pictures and post them up of anything in question. Some dealerships even put videos on youtube of the vehicle and email it to a potential buyer. Make sure you get a copy of the carfax to ensure it hasn't been abused too badly and is actually a polished turd so to speak. The 300C that I almost bought turned out to be just that, poor sap who bought it might not even know it!
