I am active duty Navy. make about 60k/year. i do almost all repairs and upgrades to my car myself, so all i really pay for is parts...which cuts down on the cost a lot. mine is a daily driver since my Jeep Cherokee died this summer. It is not a great car to have to drive in the winter here in MD, so if you are somewhere with snow i would keep your "beater" The car has its quirks with all sorts of rattles and squeaks...but those can easily be drowned out with proper throttle application. i traded in a 2008 Audi A4 and bought my 06 SRT8 for 19,200 with 31k miles on it. Does not handle nearly as well as the audi, but so much more room and straight line performance. my insurance is substantially cheaper than everyone elses seems to be...mine is 134/month...but that is for my SRT8 and my wife's 2006 Jeep Commander, yes FULL COVERAGE. Gas sucks. period. I would highly recommened this car (and do) to everyone and anyone i meet. Oh and my dad is pissed that it is faster than his Mercedes CLS 55 AMG.
