Magnum SRT8 with new Zoomers whips older Corvette!

Sorry! I posted this a couple of other Magnum forums but thought you guys might enjoy it too!)

Hey everybody!
Got my Zoomers installed today! What a great operation! Ron was so helpful and their whole staff is "First Class". After I left Zoomers and got the SRT8 washed for the 4th time this week, (see my post somewhere about the $29.99, unlimited car washes) I went down to Sunset Beach and made everyone come out and listen to the Vroooooooooooom! And I'm telling you. The sound of these Zoomer's in unbelievable.

Anyway, I left Sunset Beach and as I was driving towards home, South on PCH, I happened to get stopped at a light by the State Beach entrance. This is like the perfect spot to run-her-up for a short distance. There was this pretty blonde woman driving this older Corvette convertible and it was "puss'! I rolled down the window, complimented her on the car and asked what year it was. She said proudly that it was the 25 year anniversary Corvette. I did the math. It was a 1970 and it was cherry!. I said "Just got this. Want to see what she'll do?" She laughed like I was kidding and then I saw her eyes get a little bit bigger. We rolled together away from the light up to about a 10 MPH roll and I just gave it a goose but let right off. Off she goes. I mashed the SRT8 down. I had it in Auto-Stick. I flew past her before she got out of first and just kept pulling away. Now, this was a very short run. We never got over 70, I believe. We both lifted and she was 4-5 car links behind. I just left it in second and let those Zoomers zoooooom as she came up next to me. Had a great big smile on her face and we both gave the "thumbs-up" sign. I cannot call this a kill. But I will call it a thrill!

Ended up cruising Main Street at Huntington Pier, then back down Coast Highway to Newport Pier. On the way back a late model Corvette was behind me enjoying the Zoomer sounds. He finally got up next to me in a 25 MPH zone in Newport! Another convertible. He and his wife both were just loving the SRT8 and, especially the sound. Asked about HP, etc. while we were doing the 25 MPH. Then we turned on PCH North and I caught the outside lane and gave it the WOT for 100 yards. They came up and were just smiling and saying how great it sounded. Then I see this Camero behind us, weaving around traffic, trying to catch up. So I pulled away from the Corvette couple and, without driving much over the speed limit but using the Auto-Stick to just slide up into a spot, quickly, and then the next slot, while watching this Camaro just driving crazy trying to catch up. Finally he was getting real close. Another dangerous lane change away from catching me and I caught a clear spot in the right lane and nailed the SRT8. Watched the Camero weave his way, again, through traffic to catch up. But he had been close enough to hear and see/feel the SRT8's acceleration and when he finally came up next to me they just looked over with a grin and stayed just off my left rear and listened to the pipes.

I know this sounds like a pipe dream or BS crap that people post. It's the God's honest truth. This is So. Calif. and I had two other, minor but similar, experiences before I got back to the house. I thought the SRT8 was fun before. JUST ADD ZOOMERS! Un-be-Fricken-lievable!

Can't wait to drive her tomorrow!

Don't really care about killing the elderly 'Vette but love the Zoomers review. Can't wait to hear the clip from Ron and hopefully some dyno numbers for the SRT.

Does the SRT sound meaner than the 'C' clip on the Zoomers site? How about around town and on the highway? Need more adjectives please.

300CUL8R,
I only read your reply until I got to the "elderly 'Vette" part and then wrote the following. Then I just read the rest of it and I'll address that part after.
KK

300CUL8R,
I'll tell you that I got a "schooling" about Corvettes today on the forums where I posted this. I could have used a "better" (see: more appropriate) Title on this post. Even though I posted the disclaimer "I cannot call this a kill. But I will call it a thrill!", it wasn't good enough for the experts and afficianados!

Was just trying to pass on a great day in a great car and it got all convuluted! Nevertheless! I got up this morning. Took my licks for beating up on some poor old Corvette, and the fact that I cannot add or subtract after a few glasses of wine, and went out and had a great day cruising the beach in So. Cal.

Shot some promotional video for Zoomers today too. Should be up on their site soon!

And that is another story but I will not bore you with it now.
KK

And now, in answer to you're other questions.

Of course I think my SRT8 sounds better than the clips because it's "not a clip". It's the real deal. I have to tell you. These things are not for the "faint-of-heart'! If your wife is the slightest bit pissed about your infatuation with your car. This is going to push her over the edge!

But if you are like me and you want your car to sound like a real HEMI. Consider this modification. It ain't cheap but I'll tell you what I posted on one of the Magnum forums about this. After driving the car for one day and if it was the only way I could have these things. I would give up a little HP to get them! They have made driving my car 150% more fun! Now I am an exibitionist at heart I have to believe. If you do not want to bring attention to your car then don't buy these. But if you are like me and enjoy that kind of attention. You gotta have Zoomers!

I drove it 30-40 miles today on the freeway and there is a slight "drone" but it is not a "headache" type drone. It's a bad/good drone, if you know what I mean. Radio up just a little and it's no drone. But any increase in throttle. You know about it. I'm talking "cruise control" and you hit an incline. Definately know it's accelerating!

You will be using the Auto-Stick a lot more too. These things sound so bad/good that you want to hear them. It may just be me and the newness of this car but I got into my PJs early tonight just to keep me from going back out for a drive. I cannot wait to drive it tommorow and the Zoomers have made it way more fun to drive.

That's just me and your expeience could be entirely different!

For those of you that are still awake.

B'dihah! B'dihah! That's All Folks!

QZking - I was the guy who shot the footage today with the Magnesium 300C and the video camera. The footage came out great. I have the web page done with the video and sound but waiting to hear back from Ron to see if he wants any changes made before I release it. That was the first time I heard the SRT with zoomers and let me tell ya... it was impressive!! The car definitely takes on a different growl with the bigger motor. Cant wait till my SRT-8 Charger comes in.
Anyway, good to meet you today.
Steven

Sure they're interesting, but racing them isn't.

Obviously I did not make myself clear in my "flippant" response. I'll try to clarify that. I meant that all of the Corvette experts and critics of my post, are VERY interested in Corvettes and especially about letting everyone know how knowledgably they are about same.

That is what I was trying to convey. Will try to be more succinct in my future replies!
