Question update on brake squeal/rotor wear ??

I have noticed that my brakes are squealing more often now than before....i have a little over 1100 miles (1800 kms ?) and they squeal when i'm applying the brakes at 60 and slowing down to 20....if i apply them firmly they do not squeal....and the noise seems to be coming from the rear....also i looked at the rotors today and found that only one (rear driver side) has a deep groove....the rest look fine.....so my question is has DCX come up with a solution to these minor problems ??....any TSBs yet ??

thanks

My car was at Stoptech a second time to finalize fitment of their big brake system. After they put the car back together we went out to "bed" the stock brakes. It took care of the squeak...for half a day.

BTW- My car has 4000 miles on it now and I'm just waiting for Chrysler to come up with a fix or the aftermarket to come out with new pads.

Chrysler is aware of the issue but does not have a fix yet.

All you can do now, is let your dealer know about this problem and wait.

I can't believe what my Service Manager told me last week. He said they were thinking about some sort of dust covers! This would mean the rotors and Brembo calipers would be hidden. I wouldn't be happy about that at all. I want to show them.

Our local service department put a 'micro finish' on the rotors that removed most of the grooves that had started to that point and got rid of the squel. The grooves have started to come back already and I have also found that using a stream of water and hitting the caliper to rotor area seems to wash out enough of the dust and stuff to keep it quiet for several days. I wash the wheels probably every 3 or so drives, so they don't go long before a good hosing..

I washed my car on Monday....the brakes were silent for 4 full days until today....the squeal has returned....therefore washing your wheels and rinsing the calipers/rotors must remove some of the debris/dust that is causing the squeal noise....and am i correct in assuming that the brake pads on the SRT-8 are constantly producing dust/debris more so than other brake pads ??

I'm at 8,000 miles ... and I believe my rotors are warped already ...... and of course, they squeal like little pigs .... I just smile at the people who glance over at me when I'm coming to a stop ...

I have to say, you would think that DC would have found some other pad compound for their top of the line luxo cruiser wearing a Chrysler badge ..... little less dust .. noise ... something ....

I'll be taking mine to the dealer for the noise in the roof, the brakes, the U-connect and my wheel alignment is out of spec too ......

I will do that after the 19th ... It might be there for a couple of days ....

I ordered all new brakes and they will just be the same crap we have now just new. There is a note in the parts computer about the rear squeeling and there is nothing to fix it yet

Absolutely, I actually picked up this from past vehicles I have owned. Some had squeal issues but did not produce the dust the SRT does. When I wash my vehicles, I always get the undercarriage and suspension points cleaned with hose pressure water. I noticed that doing this right at the caliper/rotor meeting point flushed a huge amount of black crap out and then the brakes would go squeal free for several days. It is standard practice on my cars now, but this one really needs it.
