Price Gouging

Guys:

Check out the internet quote I received on a SRT8:

As requested, I offer the following price quote on the 2006 Chrysler 2006 300C SRT8 X Pkg..

The MSRP (manufacturers suggested retail price) = $46,305

Waldorf Chrysler Jeep Internet Price = $61,305 Plus tax, tags, & $100 processing charge

That's pretty sad.

It always seems to happen to hot cars when they debut. It was so bad with the GTO in 2004 GM sent a letter to dealers not to repeat it with the new Solstice.

I wouldn't pay a penny over MSRP for an SRT-8, or anything for that matter really.

But what's even more sad is the fact that they MIGHT get what they're asking. I on the other hand would and did pay over for my SRT8, but you have to draw the line somewhere and $61,000 is a little extreme. I payed 7 over and would do it again if I had to.

It is the tax in price in Alberta and that is in Cdn dollars. I think that is one dealer who should be put on the don't buy from them list.

Price Gouging? Is that even possible with a car with a multitude of substitutes? Its called supply (little) and demand (great).

As long as there are people with more "cents" than sense there will dealers out there to bend them over and give them the service they so badly want.

Yeah you're probably right, but I have been driving my 06 since the second week of May. I knew i could probably get one for Msrp if i waited or ordered one, but I travel for about 9 months every year.....and i don't mean i come home on the weekends. When I'm gone i stay gone for at least4 and sometimes 8 weeks at a time. I also don't mean I travel to the next state either. first trip will take me to Europe, second to south america and the third will probably have me in australia, korea and japan. Not a very condusive schedule for Car-shopping so I moved on one as soon as I found one. I REALLY had to have this car and since my situation could have left me without this car, i paid over and would DEFINATELY do it again if i had to. i'm not saying that everyone should, but my job keeps me on the move-------and I honestly just couldn't wait to see if i could find one late in the year.

BTW: evenat 7 over the car cost me about half of what the other two cars i was really considering....the new M5(just couldn't love the new styling) and the CLS/E55
