You are locked in. The dealer is not. The car could come anytime from October this year to October next year. You need to inquire as to whether the dealer even has allocation to get one. And of course he could sell it out from under you when it comes if he gets a higher offer. My suggestion would be to shop until you find one in stock and make your deal.

Hey Lee...

I was just at my dealer this morning....They sold their black fully loaded '06 for $2k over.

Look like they wouldn't budge...You called them 2 months ago didn't you!?

Without a VIN #, it doesn't sound good. Like GTS said, it could be until next year without allocation. I got mine out of state at MSRP, but even with the transport cost of $1300 for an enclosed carrier from Kansas to Ca., I still saved a bunch. If you don't get a Vin # by the middle of next month, I would ask for your deposit back. You can get it back. Better yet, if you paid by credit card, you can call the card company and put a chargeback on that. Cecil.............

Lets not get hasty. Mine only took 8 months 6 days to get built. Tack on another week for shipping and presto its there.

But Saint; yours was ordered when? back when the build line for them was stalled? The build on these is moving, and delivery on them is much better now right?

I'm still waiting with a Jan 28 order. I know I can find one on the ground at MSRP. I did it once and business affairs caught up with me so I did not have the time to travel and get it. After doing the initial search I now have 3-4 seemingly good dealers updating me on their cars in D status, I have told them to call me when you have KZ status and I'll get on an airplane. I still hold out hope my original dealer will get allocation as he is hassle free and a friend. And yes, vv90 I did try those guys, they really held out for the 2k, I wonder what it cost them to floor plan the car for this amount of time? Sometimes I think some new car sales managers have no concept of profit, only top line revenue. And that IS probably how they are paid.

"Hey Moe!"

I believe you're going to get your car, and sooner than most people here think.

I've had one on order since 2/3/05 and I just got my VIN. But, now I believe they're going to start coming in faster...Why? Because I'm seeing SRT8/ 300C's being advertised prominently in big publications (Fortune Mag, for one...I have their two page spread taped on the Fridge), and they wouldn't do this if they weren't ramping up production...

Why piss off a bunch of Millionares if you're not going to deliver the cars?

IMHO

When I first joined the board, someone, RT4 I think, laid it out perfectly. Without a VIN, there is no guarantee you will get a car. Once the VIN is issued, that car is going to be built. Otherwise, no matter what the dealer tells you, there is no guarantee. The car is not going to be built until the dealer has allocation. As a consumer, there is no way to tell whether the dealer is going to be allocated a car. He can take 100 orders for SRT8s, even though he may only get one a year. I see production of these cars is still at about 1,000 from ResumeSpeed's last post. Unless you put a deposit down on a car with an assigned VIN, there is no guarantee you will get a car. Not this year, not next year, not in 10 years. If you put a deposit down on a car without a VIN, you MAY get a car, but it's not definite you WILL get a car.
