Question on poor mans exhaust upgrade

I plan on cutting off the rear mufflers as some of you have done.Add a bent pipe and tips.Is it going to be ok to tack weld mig or tig the pipes on the car?Does the batterry need to be disconnected? Will it fry any electronics? Thanks, GTS Bruce

Bruce,
The 300 shouldn't be any different than any other modern auto, and muffler shops mig weld on them all the time.
If I were doing the job, I would disconnect the battery. Make sure you place the welder's ground clamp on the forward part of the joint (the pipe connected to the car) and as close to the new weld as possible.

Remember!

My system was pulled out from the suitcase back. Barrery was not disconnected and there have been no problems. The PRO'S know what to do.

Magnaflow

Does battery have to be disconected to install the Magnaflow catback system?
