I can hear the drone a little more after I installed the cats. But like you said, really only happens in auto, and even then it is not that bad.

Installed my Magnaflow mid-pipes with high flow cats. Nice, very nice! Rev's quicker for sure and the traction breaks are now laughable. As in, can't get traction. I honestly don't think it's any louder than the catback, but I do hear a little vibration. I'll have to duck under there tomorrow as I may have something rubbing somewhere. It's much easier to do the whole exhaust install at once. I ended up dropping the catback (which I'd already installed) to re-align everything. Glad I did.

The engine definitely revs faster with the mid-pipes!

I definitely use autostick more often with the mid-pipes....to get around the drone & to hear the V8 music as the engine gets exercised in manual mode.

If your pipes are hitting the crossbar member, you can remove the crossbar and add 3 washers on each side and reinstall the crossbar. This should give you enough clearance for the pipes......

Took the cross member off for good and won't be re-installing anytime soon. I'm going to create a new thread with directions and hints on the cat pipe install.

Had my mechanic install mine this weekend. I mentioned removing the cross member & he strongly advised me not to. Told me it was a support frame for the floor panel and if you have 4 fat guys riding around in this thing you very easy could do damage. He also said time would effect it, saying the floor board will warp over time without the brace. It has something to do with keeping weight balanced from left to right within the floorboard. He seemed to know what it was for immediatly & he's a very knowledgeable guy. I've seen multiple posts on how the crossmember doesn't serve a purpose but after hearing what I heard, it'll be staying on my car. Just thought I'd give my .02 cents... I'm sure someone will try & prove me wrong but I really don't care, it's a half pound part & not too sure why there's a need to remove it in the first place.

Over on the Charger Forum one of the DC service tech's took off a customer's cross brace after it rubbed on the aftermarket exhaust. We had this same piece on the CTS-V's and finally got an engineer to confirm that it's there only to keep a rusted out exhaust from hitting the pavement. Something Magnaflow owners with stainless with NEVER have to worry about.

my wife is the exact opposite, had the high flow cats and cat back installed today (thanks Kinneys Custom Exhaust, DFW area) and she wants the resonator cut out, I swear I should just drive a stock car

The pitch of the Mf is just too sweeet , unlike the other Srt8's around here , this thing has a deeper tone than a corsa or a B&B .

smart choice for those who live in cali or places that are flooded with pigs that are on hold to pull over any one with an exhaust system :/

Happy Tuning

That's a very unusul wife as many report their wives not liking a loud exhaust note. Congratulations on your install.
