Yea, there's no way it could affect emissions. Around town driving will result in less gas mileage with a looser converter, but not emissions. And as long as the converter is a lockup converter, mileage will be identical to stock on the highway.

For the average person, the "stall" speed of a torque converter is the RPM seen when power braking the car. No wheelspin, revving against maximum load.

Varies wildly by engine characteristics. Generally a higher stall converter is great if you want more "off the line" performance. But since we seem to be traction limited anyway...

Note: there has been much said about the stock converter's variable stall speed. It uses 3 different stages of lock up to do this, NOT moving any vanes around. It can be programmed to lock up a little or a lot in any gear desired! One of the most sophisticated transmissions ever put in a car, not because of 5 speeds but because of it's amazing efficiency and sophistication.
Will a new torque converter effect anything once you've left the line?

wow, dredging up an old dead thread.

Once you are off the line and moving, these converters have very little effect due to the variable lock up feature in our trans. This trans can lock up partially in almost every gear! This keeps you from losing all your economy at city speeds.

I would rate this as one of the best mods for the SRT8 yet!

Will the new converter effect anything once you've left the line? stevesrt8 pretty much summed it up for you, but he did leave out the part about the snappier shifts. The converter locks as advertised to the RPM it is set at. During a 1-2 shift, you should be exceeding the rated RPM level, so the converter should be locked resulting in a snappier shift, definite seat of the pants snap! Also we have had a few people tell us they have received better fuel economy with this converter, based off the improved efficiency of the internal components. I think this would be hard to prove though, as when I am in a car with one of these converters installed, I find it really hard to keep my foot off the "Go Fast Lever" down on the floor board.

Some more good news, we have upped the ainty. 2800 & 3000 stalls are now available that do not throw a code! Now that's what I am talking about!!!!
