Corsa 2.75 " ---- Zoomers 3.0" ?

Cat back is going to be my next investment. From what I've read, the Corsa ( ie mopar ) has 2.75 " pipes and zoomers has 3 inch pipes. Did somone make a mistake ? are the SRT8 Corsa's actually 3 inches as well ?

Thanks in advance.

The oem pipe size on the SRT is 2.75"

All the other aftermarket exhaust Co. make there pipe size 3". Except Corsa. In order for Mopar to approve the Corsa to be the Mopar exhaust. DCX wanted to stay with the 2.75" pipe size. Corsa was the only one who made the 2.75" pipes and also kept the exhaust quiet enough for Mopars taste.

Except when you open the throttle. Then it becomes a straight-through system (no packing) with a snarling V8 racing engine sound that is mainly behind the car.

Mainly behind the car....like I said too quiet for me. I like it loud, from a light tappy, tappy of the throttle all the way to WOT .

NR, when you are in Houston in January, bring some ear plugs, and we'll go for a ride in Freebird, then I will let you also hear the JBA, on SRT II. I'm juast excitied you will be in my neck of the woods. I have not seen you since Spring Fling I. See you soon my friend.

Thanks, I think I get it.

So I'm guessing, that the other exhausts connection point has to be 2.75, then there is a transition to 3".

Corsa is 2.75 all the way to the tips.

Don't focus on the diameter of the pipes. 2.75" X 2 is way more than enough to exhaust anything the 6.1 can throw at it.

When I raced my 10 sec LS1 (about 500 crank hp), moving from a single 3" pipe to a single 4" pipe gained absolutely nothing.

Go with the exhaust that you like the sound of most, and be careful of the constuction. I had the JBA on originally (obnoxiously loud inside the car), and found out it had baffled mufflers. My car club did a flow test years ago showing that baffled designs (Flowmaster, at the time) actually flowed less than the stock exhausts. My point here is that louder mufflers do not necessarily flow any better.

True, contrary to popular misconception bigger is not always better, and in some cases if the system is not designed and tuned for larger pipes the result may be worse performance. Hotter gasses flow better, larger diameter pipes may result in the gasses being cooled more and therefore harder to push out.

I don't think any engineering efforts went into the Zoomers or they would have stayed with 2.75". They are selling "noise", with no concerns at all for proper system tuning or performance. Proof of the "backyard engineering" is in the number of drone complaints. A very poor choice in my opinion.

I couldn't count the number of posts I have seen from people installing Zoomers and then immediately selling them due to either poor performance or the dreaded drone. Supposedly Zoomers was going to come out with a redesigned system to reduce the drone, but what about all the people that bought their original product? Even if the drone has been eliminated I wouldn't trust that the system would be properly balanced. Mopar/Corsa was designed with the help of the SRT engineers. IMO this is the ONLY way to go.

A friend of mine installed a BORLA on his srt8..and to my amazement it was 2.5" (I measured it myself) all the way and it is really really quiet, it seems quieter than the OEM...But it was like 1/4 of the weight on the oems
