I e-mailed Superchips and they don't have any intention of making programmer for the 6.1 any time soon. They basically told me that it's pretty high strung from the factory and they want to make sure they tune it safely. I believe them because they have always been honest with other products I have owned from them. They must have a point because no one else is jumping to make a tuner for our cars either. It would be quite a money maker IMO. Honestly I don't even care about the performance gains that much, but I would like to have the ability to set other parameters, like turning the fans on earlier. I'm sure if we wait long enough someone will come up with a tuner.

People with Dodge Dakota R/Ts from 5-6years are still waiting for their tuner. And still only thing they can get is a flash from B&G. Just like us.

The problem is the way they market chips/programmers is everyone wants to plug them in and get 35 instant Horsepower. And I honestly think they aren't going to be able to do anything like that safely with a 6.1.

So if they bring one to market and it is too aggressive in search of power. People will ping their 6.1 to death and then bitch at the programmer company.

Or they make something to just tune things, like the tranny, torque management, rev limit, ESP, fans etc.... All which would be great to have.

But then people will strap the car to the dyno and do some runs and not gain PEAK HP or Torque. Even though the car is much improved driving down the road becuase of the other changes.

But then in a lot of people minds "This programer gave me zero horsepower..it sucks"

So I can see the situation these companies are in with the 6.1. Lets hope someone steps up to the plate.

I've been checking into these for awhile. It doesn't seem like we'll be seeing a handheld for the 6.1 in the near future. B&G is really the only way to go at this time. They are making more power but the driveability is what alot of people like. A few people that I've talked to have said "this is how it should be".
