GSM Fan Mod Yeh or Ney??

Ok i have an 2006 Magnum SRT8 I would like to do the GSM fan Mod but does it really work i dont mean the Fan part....well i want that to work too,but I really want the Torque Management gone...Does this take care of that does it work good on SRT's ? Will it improve anything at the track? I know the Fan mod with the T-stat helps keep it cool but im more worried about reducing TM so any input would be great Thanks.....

Here are a few threads concerning the torque mod. You will find that most that have done this mod are pleased with it. Don’t know if any of this helps you or not….so good luck!

Hey Gerard ,

I know you received my vote already , and while I can't say for certain it will improve you track times...........I will say that it is much easier to heat(see roast here) the tires while stageing . And the total reduction in traction control/torque management/throttle retard has got to be a good thing .I believe you can(and I do) easily make up for tire slippage without the car holding back any power . You need good rubber , drop the pressure to 20psi , clean them good(yep the roast thing again ) and launch . Good thing is you can kill it and try it both ways with the flip of the switch . You can't go wrong here . Keep the fan running switch on and independently shut (or turn back on) the traction control . Do run's both ways and see what happens . I made out better w/o any traction control . I hit 12.7 at 109mph (P.B. so far) with traction issues out of the hole . I know drag radials will drop me to the very low 12's with my mods , 11's are easily in reach with juice but as I am watching the half- shaft drama unfold.....I'm not so sure it's worth it yet so I'm waiting on the DR's. Even though it will shave time....that much traction ....and torque...may simpily not be worth it yet . If you get it I think you will like it . If I remember correctly ....we did a run together at E-town and you pulled a 13.0 stock and it wasn't exactly the perfect weather that day . I think you will see a drop in times w/o traction control...if you haven't already with your other mods since I've seen you run . If your spin-tech's aren't good for shaving time..........they still are fun to listen to.... -Mike.

Didn't Mr I. post in one of his threads that you could tap the ESP inside the cabin and mount a switch? That would probably cost you like $5 at radio shack.

Thanks Mike for info...Yeah the spintechs do sound nice...I want to reduce TM becuse i will be runing a ZEX kit soon....And of course the fan mos is a plus to in warmer weather...Im between the GSM fan mod or maybe I should get the Stage 3 B&G flash...im confused...LOLI went to the track with will the other day everyone was running way off i still was hiting my 13.0 so that either means my car is very consistant or i did pick up some HP with the mufflers and the TCM flash from the dealer? I have to sit here and think this one out.....$200 vs. close to $900 for the B&G.....

Tough call . Do you need the stage III if you are running the juice ? Are you going to run the juice with drag radials ? I'm more than a little worried about the shafts .

Hey Mike....I dont know i know stage 3 elements the Torque management completely i dont know if stage 2 does...And i will maybe maybe use drag radials for taking off hard then spray the car in second gear when the car is already in motion so it cant shock the Half shafts....But then again i might try to be the only SRT8 on F1's to get very low 12's maybe hit an 11.9999999999 on spray....with minimal amout of Mods....LOL...just oh maybe a 125-150 shot LOL nah J/K i might go up the highest 125 .....

Thread hi-jack...did you ever get that short shifting issue with the new tranny flash taken care of? I'm driving up to Detroit next week for a few days. I could try to duplicate your problem - don't know if I want to drop my car off for a trashing courtesy of the SRT engineers though

No I havent had it taken care of ive learned to trick it or live with it LOL...If you come off the line hard and spin it shifts fast it you come off the line with out a bark off the rear tires your Fine...I went to track last Saturday 2 runs i left it in autostick Launched at 1000 rpms worked perfectly last run i got greedy i left the line at 1400-1500 rpms all it did was spin all of 1st gear and the short shifted into 2nd needless to say that run was CRAP....LOL so if you learn the car you can get some very consistant times...Spin the tires badly your done just go back to the pits...lol Thanks though....

So whats the verdict on this mod on SRTs? Does it really do anything the ESP Disable from the factory doesn't?
