I believe most, if not all cars that have broken halfshafts have had the Quaife LSD installed. I think SRT felt the open diff with esp/abs was a good setup for most SRT8 drivers, to keep them out of trouble. High performance cars with low performance drivers is a bad mix. I don't think it was $$$ consideration either. I don't think they invisioned the amount of HP and Tq we are getting from what they thought was a pretty much perfect car for target their market.

This was a problem that we always fought with in the Vette Forum...Especially with Slicks. Only there halfshaft would rip through the body and into battery case. We finally got some sweet carbon Fiber halfshafts that seemed to be able to take upto about 700hp but IRS and slicks were always a roll of the dice. Big HP guys went to solid axels.

We are in new territory here. Once the halfshafts problem is fixed, we will figure out what the next weekest link is. Time will tell. I want to be able to launch on bottle and complete a 1/4 mile pass without breaking anything.

Hal,

There have been a couple guys who snapped their Halfshafts without Quaife. Need4speed2 is one of them. Another guy out in Florida as well, but he doesn't visit the forums much. I forget his username.
