Corsa Install questions

I was just wondering if anyone that has installed the Corsa on a SRT 300 (or any other catback) has had any problems. More specifically, were the exhaust tips a pain to line up properly? Access from a pair of jackstands a pain? Stock system stubborn trying to remove it? Anything else that would cause you to say you wouldn't DIY again? If anyone has any feedback that would be great. I've installed catbacks on other cars before without problems but if I can save some skinned knuckles and a bunch of cursing and just pay someone to install it I will... Also if anyone has any specific links on problems during install..thanks.

I installed my Corsa myself but I have a 300C
Same install only your pipes are a little bigger in diameter.
I used Rhino ramps and some jack stands for safety.
Old system came of easy and I removed the hanger brackets so I didn't have to fight to get the hanger out of the rubber.
There is a small cross member and I used a piece of 1X6 lumber as a spacer between the pipes and cross member and when everything is tighten up you remove it and you have no problems pipe rubbing against the cross member.
There are some members who installed pipes with cross member removed and when they were done with installation they reinstalled cross member and the clearance was to small .
So every time they would hit a bump the pipes would hit the cross member.
And some members just kept it off witch I don’t like because it’s there for some reason I believe!
Install the complete system and only partly tighten the clamps so you can adjust your tips to lineup correctly with your bumper cutouts.
Make sure you torque you clamps correctly! (I think it's 45 pounds)And re torque after couple days. (Makes sure pipes are cold, not just cooled down)

Here is a link to corsa's installation instructions:

Good luck
Gary

I did a self-install of my corsa cat-back. It was very easy. oh yeah, did I mention I've never installed a exhaust system before in my life...

I can give you a few pointers that should make it easier.

1st, the put wd-40 on the grommets and they should come off easily with the help of a flat head screw driver.
2nd, there is a crossing black bar underneath that car. Its there just incase the exhast system comes loose and drop down so they dont hit the street. Some guys are removing it because after they install the cat-back it hits the pipe on bumpy roads. I did'nt because before I fully tightened up the system I jacked up the pipes about 3 inches then fully tighten the clamps.

If you have any other question ask away.

NYC, did you remove the hanger brackets from the car to gain access to the rubber grommets also? The instructions say to remove them as it's probably easier to get the metal out of the rubber grommet. Sounds like I'll attempt the install. I have installed a catback when I had my 2001 Lightning. I remember having a hard time getting the stock pipe to slide off the midpipes. A royal pain. I had to dremel it off because it was so tight. I just want to make sure there are no surprises like that. I remember back then saying next time, I will pay someone to do it!

I had 8k on the car when i did the install and no problem with getting the stock exhaust off. The stock exhast has no clamps, they are held together by bolts... no need to worry about getting it off.

They are 6 grommets in total. They are 4 that hold up the to rear resonators. Those 4 can be removed from the car. The front 2 can't be removed because the hangers are welded on. However, if you put the WD-40 on it the grommet should slip right off with a flat head screw driver to assist.

Hope this helps...

Good luck with your install. I’ve had a look around and haven’t seen much in the way of trouble on that particular install. Let us know how it goes and show some pics if you can.
