I directed him to this thread. It's hard to believe that a company (GSM) would put out a product that is so underdeveloped and can potentially cause engine failure. Hasn't some one considered a lawsuit, yet?

I have not heard of anyone taking the legal route...seems very odd. They must be small print somewhere thats saving 'them'.

The supercharger itself is not necessarily the big problem.

Running 6-8 pounds of intercooled boost will work fine in the SRT8.

The problem is lack of custom tuning available that you can use on the street and on a load based dyno (eddy current or similar).

If there was a proper tuning package available and you could tune the spark, AF and program for injectors etc you would be able to dial in the car perfectly.

I ran 9#'s boost on a stock motor LT1 Z28 for 3 years and never popped a ringland. (ran 11.80s at 120mph)

Also ran a SC on a 98 Formula without problems on 6#s boost and ran 11.40s at 124mph on the stock motor.

Tuning is the key....

I'm running 9psi on a stock LT1 Vette. 11.80's...Pretty impressive, what kind of tire, auto or manual?

I bet neither of you guys had a 9th injector wedged in between the throttle body and the intake manifold shooting gas in a place where it was never meant to be...

Just have your bro think long and hard before making such a commitment. There is much to read about this type of stuff. The SRT8 is a blast to own and I hope he is able to enjoy it to its fullest. Good luck!

Thanks This was back in 97-98, ATI actually used my car in their print ads across NA. (Mine was the red Z-28 launching at the dragstrip in their print ad)

Bone stock LT1 motor, 315 Drag radials, stock 3.42 gears, centerforce clutch, 5000rpm launch and a 1.91 sixty. Full weight too, nothing removed. Took constant tuning and scanning but it ran like a champ

Cheers
Chris

That's crazy, I have almost the same setup. ATI P1-SC, Bone stock LT1, 315 drags, 3.54 gears though. No 5000rpm launch though. IRS won't allow it. It did get a 1.9 shorty and ran an 11.98 as my best. (then the accident ocurred, been in garage ever since. This Spring she'll look pretty again.)

EPA doesn't require anything older than a 95 to go to emissions anymore...Looks like a set of ceramic headers with cut outs and no cats are in my future.

Why?

That's alot of money to run mid-pack stock times.

IMHO they have alot of balls offering a 4K something kit to make the GSM run better. Seems like a little more R&D on there own systems is needed before they worry about someone else's so-called issues.

I would talk to Scott at GSM before making any decisions.
Why run in the 11's (with a GSM SC) when you can run 14's with another brand???

Nice setup man congrats I also had SLP headers on the car and catback (no cutout)

Cheers
Chris
