Just got B&G Stage II Flash

Installed it last Friday. I do feel the extra power without a doubt. One thing that kind of scared me was the first time I went into WOT the car started pinging. The highest Octane we can get here in Arizona (or at least I've ever seen) is 91 Octance. B&G says that the stage II has modified WOT fuel tables tuned for 91-93 Octane. I was thinking maybe I needed higher Octane, so I went to AutoZone and bought some Octane Boost. After about 10 miles the pinging went away. I'm not sure if it's due to the Octane boost or if the car just needed some time to get used to the new Flash. Hopefully I don't need to put boost in every tank fill up. But if I do, it's worth it. The extra power is very nice.

im considering getting this too. did throttle response improve too? i have never heard bad things about B&G, the only thing holding me back is the possibility of the Diablo tuner coming out.

did you order a new PCM, or just send yours in?

Thats why I won't go B&G yet. Want to go Diablo if it does what it says it will do. I will wait to the end of August at the latest.

Once the Diablo comes out you should see the cost of the B&G flash come tumbling down as the whole Diablo Predator is only $400.

If it comes out, I'm still not counting on Diablo until I actually see the product. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Throttle response did improve. I just bought another PCM so I can throw the stock one in if I need to go to the dealer. I think most people are expecting too much out of the Diablo. You really get what you pay for in a lot of these cases. I understand that the B&G Flash kind of has the market corned right now. But if you look at other programmers that are in the $400 range for (say a Mustang), they don't do as much as the B&G Stage II flash does for the SRT8.

What do you think the B&G does that the Diablo won't do? At this point I don't see why Diablo would release a product that would be substandard to a flash that has been out there for awhile?

If it is at least as good as the B&G it would be a much better deal both price wise and he fact that you can make the changes yourself.

I will wait a couple months on the Diablo before I drop that kind of money on the B&G.

I don't think the B&G will do more then the Diablo. I just think the Diablo might be getting a little over-hyped right now. I saw a thread from Tbyrne that listed a lot of items that the Diablo will do and it seemed too good to be true. I had a hypertech programmer for my Mustang that cost me about $400 and it didn't do half the stuff on that list. I do think it's a very good idea to wait to see if Diablo can save you $200 on what I think will be about the same results of the Flash, I just didn't have the patience.

I just installed mine over the weekend and have not had any pinging at WOT. Low speed throttle responsiveness has improved though I still end up in 4th gear at 35 MPH around town (low speed shift RPM for 1-4 are about 400 RPM too low in my opinion and should be more like the 5.7). I have also noticed that the car runs 1 degree cooler on average and several degrees cooler at times of lighter load.

FYI, install on an 07 is even easier than an 06 because there is no plastic cover to remove to access the PCM. However, beware the little red plastic safety clips that keep the harnesses' plugged in. They tend to pop out and land on the plastic undercarriage cover where no human can get them. Kind of like your Frisbee going up on the roof.
