The Glasspacks are 12" and I think the tips are 8"
OK heres the deal.. .
This is the setup I was hoping to get in the first place. Had I read this post prior, I would have saved tons of money. They charged me more than I thought because the tips were $100.00 double walled 3" in and 3.5" out. Also he removed the factory rubber hangers for the rear and installed lower profile ones used in truck apprications. They do not move around as much, and if you notice in the pictures below, the tips are closer to the rear facia (low enough to not burn the facia). The way they hung with the factory rubber hangers was wayyyyyy to low for my taste. I just don't like the tips inches down from the facia. And the tips are NOT at all sticking behind the facia. Another thing I HATE is to see tips sticking inches past the end of the bumper YUCK
The sound is as I wanted, more grumpy than the factory exhaust but not obnoxious as removing the rear resos completly. There is some droan, but its at very low RPM and you never cruise at that speed so really its not much of a droan as much as it sounds more muscular (like it should). When I had the factory resos on there, the car sounded very weak and soft, and it sounded like a kitten. NOW, IT SOUNDS LIKE THE TIGER IT SHOULD.
This option is a way to get a good, throatier, better than stock, with no droan at crusing speed WITHOUT, I repeat WITHOUT spending $1300.00 plus $150 to install a Corsa system. Now obviously if price is not matter, stop reading this and go get a CORSA. BUT, if you are like me 32 years old, big house, wife, 2 cars, and you can get away with $500.00 mods but $1500.00 mods are not easy, then read on.
HERE IS WHAT I ENDED WITH.
I have a CAI from GSM to stock headers, then to Magnaflow High Flow Catted Mid pipes (makes the car sound much deeper, and added noticeable power for sure, then to 2.75" tube to Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers (you can substitute any you like, if I had it to do over, I would get the Magnaflows I understand they are not as loud), then to Blastin' Bobs 3" in and out glasspacks then to my new slant cut (not 45 degrees they are more like 20-30 degrees I think, double wall, 3.5" out chrome tips.
IF I had done this at first, without all the messing around... It would have cost me $575 installed. Now, I will not tell you how much I paid, because I changed the set up 3 times, and new parts each time. It makes me want to barf thinking about it and what I could have had.
That being said, in my opinion only, I have found a nice solution to a non Corsa exhaust with bigger tubing, and better quality, from what I have seen than the Magnaflow Kit, or the JBA or others for this car.
One more thing. If I had it to do over I would keep the stock exhaust and add the blastin bobs reso delete kit for $225.00 and my guy would have charge me $60.00 to install. NOW, for $285.00 you got a pretty sick sounding set up and the performance is probably the exact same, or maybe even better.
