GC SRT rear diff

sorry if this has been brought up before. but what are the differences between the GC diff and the one on our 300's?? i figure they must be different, or someone would have been swapping in the 3.73's from the GC by now.

and if the gears arent compatible. is there no way we can swap the whole diff housing??

im going to get my buddies GC over one of these days and get some comparison pics, just to see the differences. up close and personal.

I have no personal knowledge. Just know that the GC is a different platform altogether and a AWD as well. Doesn't sound likely. The person most likely to know is Resume Speed, our info guru here. he also has a GC SRT8. You might want to send him a PM.

the AWD wouldnt affect anything. it runs through a transaxle that is seperate from the rear diff.

but i did some digging. and found out that the GC diff. is a completely different make. and it uses different axles as well. so as i assumed. nothing is compatible at all.

well something else i discovered from the digging i did. is that the new diablo coming out, will be able to trick HAL for gear changes. so since quaife already has an LSD unit out for our vehicles. it wont take them long, once diablo is released, to offer us a unit with a good gear ratio.

this season is prety much over for my car up here. so i will remain confident, that we will have gears by next summer. so then i can do, rear gears, diablo, an 6 speed as soon as the snow melts. (fingers crossed)

It would be nice to have a shorter gear, but can you imagine having street tires with that? Even borrowing my friend's AMG 18's with drag radials, it would be a task to get any ET gains. My "fake" limited slip works pretty decent. What huge gains are folks acheiving with "real" LSD's? The E55 has a fake LSD also and works pretty good.

i think you might have some real traction issues with 3.73's. but you can fit an 11" wide wheel on the 300. so with a set of 3:55's you might be ok. plus if its an LSD it would make a big difference. there are lots of threads on it at chargerforums. and everyone who has tried it, loves it.

Yea, once the 6 speed manual comes out like the one Keisler was working on gears will be the way to go, 4.11's in an LDS, a 6 speed manual, stronger halfshafts and drag radials and these will be some sweet rides!

For now, 3.23's or maybe 3.55's would be ok, IMO daily driving would be effected a ton if you went much higher. at the track with a slightly higher redline they would work. with stock redline and 3.55's we would only have 107mph available in 3rd, with the redline changed to 6750 we would have 116. with 3.23's we would have 118 and 128mph.

yes im not concerned about what the gears would do to the current set up. i have been waiting on the 6speed, since i bought this car. the deciding factor on me buying this car was that the kit was supposed to be released 3 days after i signed the papers. i was extremely dissapointed when it didnt go into production
