I received and installed my AFE Stage 2 last night.
Couple of comments between the MOPAR I had previously and the AFE stage 2
1) Fit and Finish - Both are excellent but I'd give the AFE the edge.
2) Quality of materials - I give this to the AFE hands down. The intake tube is VERY well made, the head sheild is better designed (sheilds the filter from the hot coolant reservoir, couplers are very well designed and the filter is much nicer both in design and appearance.
3) Sound - I found the MOPAR to be less pleasant to listen to at WOT. I think it is because of the thin metal of the intake tube and also the tube shape versus the thicker plastic tube of the AFE
4) Heat soak - Hands down the AFE is better here. Long drive and testing the intake tube and heat around the filter the AFE was WAY cooler. No comparison really.
5) Performance - I'd also give the advantage to the AFE here but I haven't been to the track or dyno yet to say for certain. The sound is definitely better, almost sounds like an exotic as compared to the hollow almost dissonant sound of the MOPAR.
All in all I am thrilled with the quality of the AFE intake. Install only took me about 35 minutes start to finish. Installing the grommet and IAT is easy with a little WD40. Took all of 60 seconds.
Hope this helps some of you that are on the fence. I am going to be hunting for 12.9-13.0 next time at the track
Cheers,
Chris

Very well written!!! good review!!
I have the DubAir c.a.i and i love everything about it!! looks, performance, sound, and ease of install, so those of you looking for an aftermarket c.a.i, look into the one talked about above, or the DubAir,, and there's one that actually angles down towards the ground to get that crisp colder air,,can't remember who makes it, sorry

my mods.
1-AFE stage 2
2-phinolic spacer
3-magnaflow high flow cats
4-B&G stage 3
5-Dynomax catback
6-160 thermostat
7-removed 3 mm from manifold inlet behind the TB with a dremel.
8-removed plastic thing from behind grill to let cold air ramair the filter
Couple of other things that'll help. (I am sure most of your guys know this already but I'll put it in here)
If you have an SRT8 remove the little shroud next to the drivers side foglight. Then remove the brake master cylinder cover up on the cowl. That provides excellent air circulation and gets the hot air out of the engine bay.
I compared tube and filter temps with the MOPAR versus the AFE and the AFE is WAY cooler both at the tube and the filter itself. The coolant reservoir radiates a lot of heat and the AFE shroud blocks it very well.
Cheers,
Chris

Here is a pic of the master cylinder cover off (Thanks Matt!)
Cover next to foglight in place: (this is drivers side, next to the foglight and right below where the hole is under the airbox/CAI)
This is it off:
(Thanks ZMagnum!)
That sends high pressure ambient air right to the filter area. With the combination of the master cylinder cover off and the little plastic shroud next to the foglight removed I can drive and actually put my hand on the intake manifold afterwards.
When I go to the track (1.5 hour drive) I put in the 25 cent fan mod before I go and when I get to the track the engine bay is COOL.
Works like a champ!
Cheers,
Chris
