Cutouts are really only for showing off. I don't think they give any performance benefit at all.

There now is a c & l cai that is flowing 970 cc...roughly 30% more then the afe2.....I think I'm gonna pick one up here shortly.............it's linked on the 90 mm throttle body thread....good stuff!!

Hey Guys,

I just received my Predator yesterday. Now, I have an 06 300 SRT8 and I am awaiting an Airhammer. In the meantime, I just went in and downloaded the "canned" 93 Perf. Tune. Is there any other perameters that I should change to get the best performance? I know I will go in and change things once I get my 180 degree T-stat and CAI. Thanks for all your help.

Robert

You know... nothing against Airhammer, but I went from my Airaid CAI to an Airhammer in the last 2 weeks. I thought with all the hype that the Airhammer would be this amazing piece of work.
However, it proved a bit anti-climactic for me.
I found the filter itself SMALLER than the Airaid (I put them side by side but neglected to take a pic - dumb, i know).
The fitment is crap compared to the Airaid (Including generic .pdf instructions without a paper copy in the box). They should actually break it down for different LX's becuase my car is NOT a 5.7 and there ARE differences.
The grey powdercoating on the mild steel unit looks terrible and matches nothing on the inside of the engine compartment.
Last, but not least... the sound. All these guys saying how great it sounds never owned an Airaid. That thing was a LOT more throaty.

I'm keeping my Airhammer on my vehicle in the name of the supposed 'performance figures', and for that alone. But don't lump the Airaid in with the K&N folks tho... it was one nice piece of plumbing.

p.s. Moving the power steering fluid box to fit the Airhammer? Nice! Now there are two large hoses blocking the air flow right over the intake hole on the bottom where the stock box used to be. Has anyone relocated these?

My point was that the AFE-2 & the Airhammer were the only intakes which are "proven" to make power. I never said I was a fan of Airhammer. IMO, they are overpriced for what you get and I don't like how you can't get a heat shield for it. Also, the fact that the power steering resevoir has to be moved is a turn off for me. I've always been a firm believer in the AFE-2 and have mentioned it in other places. It is a great value for what you get.
