well i couldnt agree more. it is, in any companies best interest to make us a set of gears. the demand is huge. the problem is, we are waiting on diablo to figure this out for us. because the gears are useless, without being able to calibrate the car for them. so we cant be mad at quaiffe right now. because its pointless for them to make a gear that people cant use yet. and we cant expect them to make a gear set in anticipation. because what if diablo never gets it figured out?? then quaiffe(or whoever) would have wasted alot of money and R&D for nothing.

all you can do for now is wait. and know that your frustration is shared by many.

if this is a big problem. why cant they just pull a few teeth off the pinion gear?? then we get a higher gear set without a bigger ring gear. or they could add a few to the ring and pull a couple from the pinion. so that the ring doesnt have to increase by a sunstantial amount.

does anyone know the actual number of teeth on our gear sets??

The way I was told, the pinion cannot be easily changed, as it is a compromise between size and torque capacity. Noise is a factor, too. One tooth off a pinion is worth a lot of ring gear teeth (relative to ratio)! Compare it to motorcycles, the countershaft sprocket makes a gigantic difference with only a tooth or two difference in size.

I'm sure one of our "rear end" experts can help us with the ring gear question.

But the simple truth is only a small change will be available without changing the entire rear end. It's straight out of the AMG parts bin, they call it the 215 which is the housing diameter. We (SRT8) use the "shortest" (highest numerical value) anyone knows of in this rear end. The Mercedes applications all have ridiculously "tall" ratios, even taller than 5.7 rears. And the Merc boys want OUR gears! They go right into an E55!

I have always felt that a torque converter stall increase and a 3.42-3.55 would be a SENSATIONAL mod for these cars.

someone posted about the new diablo revision and it lists all the gear ratios, so maybe someone will make some higher gears now, 3.2-.3-or.4, anyone hear if richmond has done anything?

Actually Jblue, we've been talking and asking about this since these cars came out. Steve is right about the fitment problem/issue. But I advise you to call GSM direct and get the real answer you are looking for. Ask for Scott - he's a great guy and will be able to tell you exactly the problem.

Moose.

I know but now they have a good reason to go throug h the trouble to make it work now, before predator didnt have the capablities now it does, it gives a company like richmond more incentive to figure it out.
