4.10's or 4.11 gears?

how come there isnt much discussion on getting these in our cars? On my other car 4.10's are a number one priority when owners first got the car. i thought i read somewhere on here that they havent unlocked it on the computer yet but that doesnt make sense with the advancements in custom tunes... any insight? with my marauder the 4.10 gears were def the best mod combined with the SCT custom tune and cant really compare those two to the blower though, just not fair hehe

Haven't seen a manufacturer that makes a ring/pinion for our cars. Not saying there isn't one maybe I've been looking in the wrong places
I would definately consider it

4.1's would be a bit too much for our cars IMO, 3.23 or 3.55's would be great. I'm sure they will be out soon. GSM was planning on releasing them a while back before diablo but could not get it done. If you just wanted to drag race your car 4.1's would be pretty good with drag radials, you could cross the 1/4 mile marker at over 5000 rpm's in 4th so drivability would be crap but you would get good use out of 4th at the track rather than just shifting into 4 right before the 1/4 mile.
as soon as the challenger comes out there might be the option of using the rear gears and or the 6 speed manual transmission from them. If I remember correctly they have 3.9's in the 6 speed manual, I forget what they are using with the auto transmission.

Correct, there are no current option for our differential. However, when it does come out, this will definitely be one my first mods. I upgraded to Richmond 4.10's on my 93 Z28 from 3.23 and this took off at least a 0.3-0.5 in the quarter. Since the SRT8 is running a 3.0 ratio, even an updgrade to 3.73's would be awesome. Also, as Fionn mentioned, 4.10's would be too much for the SRT8 if you want to maintain driveability. My 93 Z28 is only driven as a second car and would not be good as a daily driver.

It is used in a few benz cars with teh sme 2.82 and 3.06 and 3.07 gears that we have.

You have to look at the market for teh gears vs tooling cost and R&D time/money.

Also teh 4.10 3.73 gears for our cars are way out there, we have a very steep first gear, to get these pigs going. ON a 28 tall tire a 3.2x 3.3x would be about ideal w/ some tracking.

If you want straight up racing th 4.10 would be ok, but I sure wouldnt want to drive it on teh street.

These are not your old sk00l muscle cars.

Here is a post from LXF that I made a while ago :

Because a lot of people cant get it in thier head that these 5 speed trans are not like the old TH-350 and th-400.

TH-400 Gears - 2.48 1st gear, 1.48 2nd gear, 1.00 3rd gear.

TH-350 Gears - 2.52 1st gear, 1.52 2nd gear, 1.00 3rd gear

TH700r4 Gears - 3.06 1st gear, 1.62 2nd gear, 1.00 3rd gear, 0.70 4th Gear

W5A580 Gears - 3.58 1st gear, 2.19 2nd gear, 1.41 3rd gear, 1.00 4th gear, 0.83 5th gear

See the differnace ?

See the full thread trans and grear thread here
