ok i think im gonna respond to my own question here.

just spoke with hammer automotive.

he suggested instead of building a shield around the filter, which they tested and found no benefit to, to cover the AIT(air intake sensor) with some shielding. to do this because of how close the AIT is to the manifold making it more susceptible to the heat.
he suggested to do either this or move the AIT closer to the filter. dont really want to do that though.

i believe their new design may incorporate this move.
he also rumored at a new filter design meant to replace the original. it will bolt on to our existing intake pipe.

darn companies and their technological advancement. my wallet will not be happy.

There are the cheap CAI kits on ebay that include a heat shield. I've seen ones for about $40. If you want to move the sensor, just splice in some wire. Not too hard, but you have to probably get a new coupler and drill a hole.

yeah i could and just plug the hole but i just dont want to screw it up and ruin the intake.

gonna put some sheilding for a turbo (that stuff with asbestos) over it. that should do the trick.

Hey Guys,

Where is the best place to find the Air Hammer? I have looked at several of the vendors but haven't seen one. Thanks.
