Mopar CAI... Anyone have this one??

Hey everyone,

I have already ordered the Air Hammer Carbon but came across this one on the Mopar site. Is anyone running this one and if so, how it the performance and what was the price? Thanks.

The one in the picture is for the SRT-4. I haven't found a CAI I like since they all are open to the underhood heat, I would prefer to have a ram air type system myself that recieves outside cold air. I know there are some people here that prefer the Mopar one over all others and I'm sure everyone will have thier own thoughts on which one is better. I think they all have benefits over each other.

Thanks. Like I said, I ordered the Air Hammer because of all the favorable write ups but it won't be here until the middle of May. If I could find one that worked nearly as well that I could get sooner, I would get it. Oh well. Right now I am just using the Predator with the canned 93 perf. tune. I am looking forward to getting the CAI and t-stat to see if it really wakes it up.

Hennissey has one thats located down there and so does GSM. They aren't recommended (by me at least), because they're low mounted and can get wet pretty easy.

If you don't want to wait for the Airhammer get the AFE Stage 2 CAI, it's pretty much the same Intake. The Airhammer was derived from the AFE Stage 2.

I've got the Mopar Cold Air Intake and couldn't be happier with the sound. I need to get a cleaning kit to clean and re-oil the filter.

What if I told you all that I am working on producing an actual RAM air for the 300. It would be a plastic or metal tube that would hook into the existing air box, from the bottom, and tunnel down to the vent holes next to the fog lamps. It would attach securely to the mounts used for the vent covers now. This would create an actual ram air, that would help boost power. I think this would definetly add horsepower by forcing the induction w/ cool outside air. If the air pressure is enough to push in fender walls, guess how much air pressure would be forced into the intake.

Would any of you be interested in this?
Do you think there would be demand for this product?

These have been around for YEARS now. What you are describing is nothing
new.

Just do a simple search of this website to find all kinds of intakes not just
from vendors, but from people who have added in their own piping, at costs
as low as 10 bucks, to get the ram air effect.

The Volant shown above is a closed airbox design, that blocks off the hot
air from the engine bay, and pulls in cool air from the front driverside vent
near the fog light using the tube going up to the air box.

Again, these have been around for YEARS now. Do a simple search for
it. It took me all of 10 seconds to find this stuff not only on this website, but
just a simple google search of "closed air box" will bring up all the info you
want on these types of air intake systems.

I love the Mopar intake, for it's look and it's sound. Half the other intakes look like a sewage treatment systems!
