So you have exhaust flowing out the headers into 2.75" piping, then pinching down to 2.25" at the suitcase, then at the suitcase outlet, back into 2.75" piping to the resonators. Simply removing that suitcase should give you the largest improvement in exhaust flow for very little coin.
This is so true...
I would like to get some Flowmaster 50 Series as my next big project.

Unless you change to high-flow cats, nothing you are doing to your exhaust is making much of a difference...other than turning up the volume. Go to a dyno and check if it "feels" faster.

So the first choke point is the factory cats...then the suitcase. You'll have to do both as you probably won't see any gains or very little from high flow cats with a suitcase that constricts the exhaust from 2.75" down to 2.25".

Blastin Bob's 11db res. replacement pipes sound awesome on my 300c. I made the mistake of removing the suitcase, had to put it back on. Leave the suitcase & get the 11 db res. replacement pipes! I believe you will be happy.

Well I don't know about that.

I'm just saying that unless you unchoke it at it's first point after the exhaust manifold/header, you're not seeing much gain...if any at all.

sheesh

the forum is full of real life experiences to back me up... exhaust work on these cars rarely nets anything but noise without careful tuning.

Yet another example... my good friend Jeff got an 07 Charger SRT8 (stole it!) and we immediately began "performance testing". His car was a tick slower than mine (stock program), about 1.5 lengths from 0-90 mph. We expected this as he has 700 miles and I have 26000.

He immediately went out and removed the resonators, and even I love the sound outside. Inside is way too loud at certain speeds for my taste. But the funny thing is his car was actually slower!

Haven't done any data logging on him yet but we will and I bet we can tune his car to make the exhaust work perform better. But stock tune just does not like mods.

Those results are not surprising given our speed density system we have. As you said, you will not see much gains with mods to intake and exhaust until you tweak the ecu. The speed density system just can't make much adjustments to take advantage of increase airflow. However, once tuned for such, the improvements should be quite good.

What people don't realize (I was one of them when I did the suitcase delete) is this isn't your 60s muscle car where you can stick the fattest pipe and biggest mufflers to get the best performance. The exhaust needs to be tuned to this car. I've personally seen the magnaflow system gain hp on the dyno.

Topfuel!

You need to have a predator or something of that nature to change the settings on the CPU to realize the gains with a Dyno and exhaust correct??
