Cool EVIC and ACC during Perf. Testing

Just went out an ran a 7.98 1/8 @ 86mph...got an excellent launch!
I'd have to say I got a good tune in there now!

I have never run a 1/4 so I decided to try one after the 1/8.
I had a good launch and all was going well until.....90mph or so.
The EVIC took the 1/4 time display away and flashed "ACC Unavailable" then "ACC Off" (it wasn't ON...just in the READY mode)
Then it came back to the 1/4 time but the clock had stopped counting but the mph and the horizontal bar indicator were still going.
All I know is I did 110.4 mph in the 1/4 but the time had stopped.
I then tried to turn on the ACC and it said "ACC Blinded"
Anybody else see anything like this?

I really like the Adaptive Cruise Control but it takes some getting used to.

as I recall the Adaptive Cruise Control will not function above 90mph....

so I guess my question to you is, was the Cruise Control turned on? might want to turn it off when during 1/4 mile runs..

ACC Blinded means either the system is disabled, or something is blocking the sensor... did you hit a big ass bug or a bird?

I just realized "Ready" means it is ON....mental note to self...turn it OFF next time...I also had the AC on as in Air Conditioning but I think this tune
turns it off on WOT....I could be wrong though.

There is nothing blocking the sensor and once I turned the ignition off/on again it was fine. I know I have used the ACC in the low 80s and I never hit 90 doing the 1/8s.....hmmm....wonder what that 110.4mph in the 1/4 would have meant.
I think it would have been a pretty decent time.

btw; that is one AWESOME blacked out 300!!!
I have an SRT10 Nightrunner (#72/400) that is totally blacked out, including the headlights....but the Nightrunner logo on the side glows in the dark.
It reminds me of something from a cereal box (lol).

EDIT: It did it again and I was nowhere near 90mph but I was red-lining 1st (i think) gear.
So it might be something related to RPMs and whether it thinks they are believable???
The shift points and rev limits have all been raised in the CMR tune.
I just need to keep it turned off unless I am cruising.

FWIW, a 7.9 1/8 mile time would correlate to abotu a 12.3x on an NHRA certified track. That's strong for a tuned SRT8, I would suspect your timer is reading a little lower than reality. Great job though none the less!!!

I suspected the time was incorrect as well and have found the problem.
Basically what I suspected was true, that the ACC flips out when the engine red-lines and turns itself off...only an annoyance I thought...but when I tried to run 1/4s yesterday and today, I ended up w/ times from 4.5 to 8.5s but
the speeds were always in the 110.4 to 110.8 range.
When the ACC was turning itself off, it was also turning the timers off.
4.x-ish and 8.x-ish were 1st and 2nd shifts, respectively.
It doesn't always do it on 1st gear but most every time on 2nd.
I never really noticed it on the 1/8th b/c 1st shift doesn't do it all the time.
But, in an 1/8th, I am just shifting into 2nd at the end and I think the timers
shut down on that shift.
I was running mid-high 8.xx before the tune and I couldn't believe it when it
dropped that much.
I put the shift points back to "Stock" and the problem went away but...I lose the performance....I remember the dyno guy saying he was raising the shift points for the dyno pulls....I got a call into him.

only watching the tach and secondary display, it looks like the stock shift point is around 5850.
The new tune was shifting right at red-line which is in the 6200/6250 range.
Interesting note though, if I put the Diablo 93 Oct w/ CAI back in and raise the shift points, it doesn't do it b/c it looks like it shifts about 50-100rpm lower than my CMR tune. I want to keep the custom tune b/c of the a/f tuning and the increased power in the low Rs.

I can't see a way to change the actual shift point value of a custom tune from the Diablo but I am novice w/ that thing....I only see Raise/Stock options. If anyone knows the answer, your reply is welcome!

I ordered a Mopar CAI, B/T Oil Catch Can. (u know, the stuff that is easy to install). My dyno guy mentioned "underdrive pulleys" too, know anything 'bout those?
I run a software company...not a car shop!
If anyone wants to buy a brand new K&N drop-in, I will also throw in the
oiling kit and the absolutely clean and new factory paper filter free.
I'm sounding like Billy Mayes....RIP.

Regardless, I love that car! I keep the SRT10 as a collector's item....
although the dyno guy has an "extra" STS Twin Turbo for it that he wants to get rid of.
He has one on his GM truck and it was pulling 580rwhp from a basically stock LT-1 (other than the turbo)....tempting....after it is out of warranty.

btw; Eric, I enjoy your posts, u have a great sense of humor...esp. if u r "married w/ children"

I know what you mean about keeping up with all the little differences, I'd just keep the custom tune in it and live with the little timer quirks because like you said...they really make a difference.

I'd put up a post in the for sale section about the filters, you'll probably sell them in one day. You'll like a CAI, but you maybe should have waited to custom tune your car until after you put it on because it could change your A/F ratios a little...speculation on my part but it could. I've been using a catch can for over a year, you'll be surprised with how much it collects. The SRT engineers actually spoke favorably abotu them in the last chat session.

The SRT8 has been an awesome family car, after almost three years it still envokes passion in me I just did a burnout in my driveway last night with my visiting nephew in the passenger seat, he's 10 and it was his first one!

Too funny, I would have liked to seen your newphew's face.

I will wait until I receive and install the CAI then put the filters up for sale.
It is on the way...I wasn't going to get one until I saw the one in the Challenger during the tune....he only charged me $165 for the tune/dyno.
If I need an a/f touch-up, I am sure he will accomodate me.

on a positive note; it appears there is a TSB to fix the ACC problem
