Well we can go back and forth about this I'm sure and I will fire up the vette guys again...

I'm hoping for 500 at the rear
The nice thing about having an effective comp ratio that is too high for commonly available gas is that it has nothing to do with the size of the motor or how it is built. Pinging will take its affect on all motors, but production built motors with weaker pistons will take the abuse to destruction much faster. You qoute off 14:1 like it is easy to deal with....Not really. You want to fire up the Vette guys, they will laugh at you as they have the ability to fully tune their PCMs for this type of mods(read, they can deliver as much fuel to the engine as they can plumb for and keep the motor rich for safety). Unless you can show me the software that allows this, you cannot do this on your Dodge/Chrysler Hemi. I am sure you will have some nice numbers for a few days/weeks/months, but it boils down to one thing: The question isn't when will it let go, but how long until it lets go.

I have supercharged a 96 Z-28 with the LT-1 motor. I purposely ran it much closer to the lean point for max power, but the point is that we had programming available to tune it like this or change it. Yes, it did finally blow through several rings lands, but it was fun while it lasted. I look forward to that post so we know how long.

Todd

Will this unit also be 50 state legal? Question 2, can a person like myself install the system? I have installed a couple of them on a Syclone before. I am not able to program the chip though. Hopefully it's just a plug in and no parameters have to be readjusted. Cecil...........

I will say 455.5

Put me in the nervous as hell camp as far as supercharging the 6.1L. I know nothing about modifying engines but hearing the barks of the 2 dogs in this fight, i am nervous but hopeful on longevity of this supercharged engine.

What was rationale DCX gave for not supercharging the 5.7L for the SRT aspplication? I know an early engine talked about for the Magnum was a 430HP supercharged Hemi back when these vehicles were still getting developed. Just seems like, if feasible, a supercharger is a pretty effective modification for an SRT type application that it would have made sense for DCX to go in this direction (like AMG has done) unless there is some reason that a supercharger is not a good fit with the Hemi.

gotta love the skeptics!!

well if it last a day or a year, GREAT!!!!!!!

I'm sure the twin knock sensors, the two additional fuel injectors, and the fully programmable fuel module will help the motor live for little bit longer.

Anyone want to go for a ride? perhaps that will be one, the motor death ride

Don't let these guys rattle you. It will be fine. Six pounds of boost is not all that much. They've been doing this for some time with other engines and they know what parameters to look for when the're dialing it in. Just keep an eye on your temps and you should be fine. Its going to make 560hp. Cecil.....
