Went to the dealer today to have them warranty one of my rims. They asked me if I wanted to do the 30,000 mile service. Plugs, Trans flush and oil change. $500.00. I passed on it because I thought it was high. Are the plug change intervals that short on our cars? What is a fair price for a trans flush and is it necessary at 30,000?
I think you should be very careful with your dealer. It appears they don't even know you have an SRT8 as the plug change interval is 100,000 miles. Sounds like they're confusing the 30,000 plug change for the 5.7L. Be careful they use the proper oil too.
Although the maintenance schedule calls for the first tranny fluid and filter change at 60,000 miles there are many here who would do that at 30,000. While you're at it you should inspect the PCV valve and replace if necessary though.

X2.. I'm readling more and more about dealers taking, or trying to take SRT owners for a plug change at 30k miles every day. It's pretty sad really. Early plug change scams from the dealer are going to rank right up there with the 15K mile diff fluid chnge they were also trying to pull on everyone a while back....

Wonder if they put the 5.7 plugs in it?

Do you have the SRT8 or SRT Design? It's my understanding that the service intervals are different for these different vehicles.

Very good observation!!! His profile says SRT8, but it could possibly be a Design Group and that would explain the plugs which would be due for changing. I guess we'll have to let him clear this up.
Yes, I just saw "Chrysler 300 SRT", so hopefully he can clear this up.

Mine is a SRT 8 '06. I went to a local auto parts store last night and ran into the guy that used to work for that dealers service department. He confirmed my thinking that the dealer's management pushes the service takers to sell the services that aren't always necessary. He said the pressure from the management got to him so he left. I've always been a hands on type person myself so rarely do I let the dealer work on my car. They will only get warrantee work from me.
