Exclamation

Same here, backing up wheels turned and it feels like the tires are slipping.
I think it has to due with the width of the rubber and weather the tires are wormed up or not.

My driveway has a fairly steep incline and I often have to back down it when the other car is in the turnaround area. Even have to turn at the end of it onto the street while backing down the (now somewhat less steep) slope. Never heard this noise from my car.

However I don't park on a slope. The driveway is flat near the house and I usually park in the garage.

Beck, what TSB do you need done? Mine is an 11/17/05 build and I didn't know there were any for me.

Front end noise

I too have this noise when backing up w/my 06 CSRT8,. I will say that I usually hear it first thing in the am when leaving for work, then again leaving, maybe it is a cold tire thing, I have the F1's
Anybody get anywhere w/the dealer on this? Its a little disconcerning considering the car is only 2 wks old

Happens to me when I am backing out of the driveway and only when the car is cold. Oddly this has also always happened on my 1999 300M as well. I thought it must be something in the pavement, but now I doubt it.

Hi Mojo, Do you have the F1's? I think I'm gonna try this in a parking lot on the way home when they are warmed up to verify that it ONLY when the tires are cold

This is known and not a big deal. The car has a lot of caster and the tires stick-slip during the maneuver. It is worse the colder it gets.

My SRT8 did this for the first time, while backing out of a parking space, the other night. I figured something had broken in the suspension and was going to tear into it this weekend. Glad to see this timely thread!

In New Jersey, we've had an incredibly warm winter, but it just got down into the teens. I put the summer wheels back on a couple weeks ago, so I'm running the Eagle F1 Supercar tires now. That's why mine made the noise. I'm relieved to learn something didn't break on my car and that it's just tire slip. I didn't notice it last winter because we had a real winter (with snow) and I ran the winter 18" wheels with Blizzak snow tires.

Yeah, F1's. Interestingly, I kinda felt a very slight jerk when this occured, and knowing how the wheels tilt when at full turn, the slip/stick description sounds very likely. I may do some tests on the SRT and the 300M this weekend.
