Dave, I don't want you to go to all the effort of tracking my order or anything like that, but do you have any idea if it shipped today or is it part of the order that was rescheduled for Monday? Thanks...

Bernie,
Your pad spreader is scheduled to arrive here tomorrow and your pads have been re-scheduled to arrive here Monday. So your combined order will ship from here on Monday afternoon. You'll just have to wash those wheels a couple more times.

Haha, funny! No problem Dave. Whenever they get here is fine by me.

Well VVV, I hope you purchased a Pad Spreader as well. Since it was you who once posted the most interesting "pads" for our system…..enough to make most mechanics blush.
Good luck with the install.

DZ can you please explain, what makes the stock ones track friendly and the C teks for street only use.( the science behind it, whats the difference between the two, is it temps, friction....................etc)
thank you

The C-Tek was designed as a low dust street pad. Low dust pads typically have maximum operating temperatures in the 750 degree F range.
All the evidence to date suggests that the SRT8 factory pads were optimized for track use. On the street, they behave like track pads run below their minimum required operating temperature - squealing, dusty, and aggressive on rotors. At the SRT Track Experience, there was no fade on the track, even after some pretty hard laps at Lime Rock Park. I'm guessing these pads have a max operating temperature closer to 1000 degrees F.
The actual composition of brake pads is a black art and none of the pad manufacturers will reveal the proportions of up to 30 ingredients that goes into the mix. I've been to a "friction seminar" that lasted a couple of days. The question you've asked could be the subject of a book. I have no inside information as to the composition of the stock pads. Everything I've said has been based on my observation of these pads under street and track conditions.
Well, it's been over a week and there's still no brake dust on my wheels. For the first time, the car is actually dirtier than the wheels. These pads did fix the problems of dust and squealing. I'm reasonably sure they will also be rotor friendly, but more time is required to tell.
I was in the parking garage under the Lincoln Center last night (dinner at the Grand Tier Restaurant, followed by Renee Flemming's stunning performance in the title role of Rodelinda) and the only squealing sound came from the brakes of other cars as we walked from the car to the stairs. There's no better place to test for brake squeal than a large, underground parking garage.
As you know, the rear C-Tek pads are all gone. There are only 3 sets of front pads remaining. After those are gone, it may be a couple months before anything new comes in. I'll keep you posted. In the meantime, there is another Centric pad for the rear that does have the OEM squeal sensors. I've added it to my site. See: http://www.zeckhausen.com/Chrysler/300C_SRT8.htm for details.
