Well folks, I'm proud to say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Both my front wheels had to be cracked by lowering the car with the lug nuts loosened. The backs were fine. I'm looking forward to many miles of clean wheels. Well not that many cuz I don't drive it that much...hehe.

Dave wasn't lying when he said it's a 4 minute job changing out the pads. It was so easy with the spreader too. Washing the wheels was so enjoyable off the car. Too bad it's only a few degrees above zero and windy...burr.

If you see this Dave, what are the 2 metal shims on the rear for? I put them back in anyway, but just curious what they're for. Also I torqued my wheels to 110 ft. lbs. as per the Service Manual. I'm assuming it's the same for the SRT8.

Thanks for everything Dave!!!

[quote=DZeckhausen]The hardest part is jacking the car up. For some reason, Chrysler didn't see fit to install a jacking pad behind the front wheel arch, so you have to go in from the front of the car. My jack is too tall to fit under the front air dam, so I had to drive up on some pieces of wood.

Drive onto some wood so the jack will clear the air dam

Roll jack under air dam and lift by chassis member as shown

The Jack I have is way to tall for me to use on my 300CSRT as well. I believe Dave is still with the OEM SRT suspension. We both have SRT's but I went with the KW V2's suspension upgrade. So my 300 sits even lower than Dave's.

For Dave's height SRT, the thickness of pieces of wood he used worked for him. I went to one of my job sites and took a 2x12 header joist. Then cut into 3 pieces. 45 degree angle cut the ends for easy tire roll up. Screwed the pieces together as well as a little wood glue between each piece.

I use level 2 and turned backwards to get at the rear jacking pad. For the front, level 3, with front tire facing level 1. I only have pics of the rear set up.

The Jack I have has served me well for over 10 years. The seals sounded like they were going to give, so not to put me or the car in danger. I put my rear wheel back on and will get a new jack first. I am going to replace my old with a more modern updated jack that is more suited for todays lower cars. I will post pics when I get it.

Mark, that's almost exactly what I made for mine to raise the car up. Works very well.

Safety Moose, here. You should never use a jack to leave your car up in the air. You should always use 'jack stands' once you get it in the air. Even if you think you are not going to get underneath. It's always safer that way, not to mention us gear heads have to find our way under the car once she is in the air.

I'll second that!!! I always use 2 jackstands just in case. I'm very paranoid about it.

Bernie, I haven't got my pads on yet. My nylon 21mm socket is on it's way. I can't believe I'm waiting for a socket to change brake pads. I've waited for stupid parts and tools before but this is ridiculous ....I would've just used the one that comes with the car but I never got a jack from the stealership, and I'm not putting 110lbs of torque on my standard sockets.

Mark, nice job with the home made ramp. Now THAT is something I can make while I wait.
