Slotted rotors are only there for improved "bite" and to keep a fresh surface on the brake pads. They do not reduce dusting. In fact, they slightly increase dust production and pad wear. They also do not reduce incidence of judder (what you called "warping").

I have no idea how DCX is portraying slotted rotors as a solution to dusting, squealing, or rotor scoring. It's completely unrelated to all three issues. I expect they're planning to come out with a less aggressive pad and, in conjunction, are switching to slotted rotors to regain some of the resulting loss in bite.

More smoke & mirrors, Dave.

Looks like August 11th is the date when enough pads will finally arrive to service everyone on the waiting list and then some. If you're on the list, keep an eye on your email inbox for an electronic invoice at the end of next week. Your wait is nearly over.

Excellent news for everyone waiting.

On a side note, that's my next scheduled wheel cleaning day.

Back in May (5000 miles) I took my SRT8 to the dealer for the brake issue...They replaced the front pads and told me that the rear pads are on backorder and they resurfaced the front rotors (I think this is a no no) the squealing was minimal after the change...Now after an additional 1000 miles, the squealing is worse than at 5000 miles, even with the windows up and the radio on..I took it to the dealer and a new guy checked the car and was visibly upset with the noise, but he was kinda scolded by his supervisor for adding additional information to my complaint...Well they asked me to return tomorrow to install them tomorrow after telling me that finally the back order rear pads should arrive tomorrow AM ...What a freaking Joke, but the Joke is on us...I filed a complaint in this TSB website http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov ...Notice only 3 previous complaints ONLY>>>either the are not posting all complaints or owners are only complaining on this forum...If you want action you must be part of the initiation...This should include Rotors...So if you have not forward a complaint then you must not have a brake/rotor issue....

If you know where else I can place an additional complaint, please forward me the information....Thanx...Dan

man i hear your cry...I have a slight shaking in the steering wheel when braking. I was going to the dealer and was skeptical. From what you just said i wont even waist my time. I cant take the bull****. I just want my car fixed. I still didnt get a chance to try the bedding technique. But, if that doesnt work I will buy the slotted rotors and CTek pads.

See: http://stoptech.com/tech_info/wp_warped_brakedisk.shtml for some excellent background on this issue.

EBC Troubleshooting: http://www.ebcbrakes.com/TroubleShooter.html
EBC Greenstuff problems are REAL. I installed Brembo drilled rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads on my 5-Series BMW last year and was THRILLED with the results. The brake dust problem virtually disappeared.
Then a month or two later I started experiencing vibration during braking. This increased gradually until I had to apologize to passengers for the vibration, and the car even began to vibrate on the highway even when I wasn't braking (lost some wheel weights too?)! I figured that I had smoked the rotors somehow by driving too aggressively (who me?) and decided to buy new rotors instead of turning the old ones.
So, after I had enough, I installed new front rotors and was pleased once again (although there was still some vibration as I didn't replace the rear rotors).
...yup, one to two months later the vibration began again.

ARRGGGHHH.

I noticed that the Tire Rack had a footnote on their website for Brembo drilled rotors "we do not warrantee drilled rotors against warpage" -
I blamed the rotors.
I was going to replace all rotors with the standard non-drilled units when I stumbled across a post regarding this phenomenon on THIS wonderful forum. The website had pictures of "warped" rotors from this and there were dark spots on the faces of the discs.
I pulled the discs and sure 'nuf... there were the spots!

$50 later and I installed the newly-turned rotors back on the car and followed the "bedding" procedure described in Zeckhausen Racing's website http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm
I got my brakes so hot there was smoke coming out of the fenderwells.
That was Sunday night. The brakes feel great now, and there is NO VIBRATION at all, even on the highway (this part doesn't make sense to me... I can't believe that I warped the rotors so bad that they threw the wheels out of balance ? ).
Anyway I am happy, but I haven't driven the car enough to convince me that this won't happen again even after properly bedding the pads.

I won't run the risk with the SRT8. I will install a different set of pads to get rid of this damn brake dust problem, but not EBC AnyStuff.

One comment regarding drilled rotors:
I have installed drilled rotors on two cars and the only difference I noticed was the noise and buzzing feel from the holes when braking. They look cool, but I will NOT install drilled or slotted rotors on the SRT8.
The SRT8 brakes feel so nice after living with the "buzzing" from my BMW drilled rotors for so long, I will never do this again.
