EBC Greenstuff problems are REAL. I installed Brembo drilled rotors and EBC Greenstuff pads on my 5-Series BMW last year and was THRILLED with the results. The brake dust problem virtually disappeared.
Then a month or two later I started experiencing vibration during braking. This increased gradually until I had to apologize to passengers for the vibration, and the car even began to vibrate on the highway even when I wasn't braking (lost some wheel weights too?)! I figured that I had smoked the rotors somehow by driving too aggressively (who me?) and decided to buy new rotors instead of turning the old ones.
So, after I had enough, I installed new front rotors and was pleased once again (although there was still some vibration as I didn't replace the rear rotors).
...yup, one to two months later the vibration began again.
ARRGGGHHH.
I noticed that the Tire Rack had a footnote on their website for Brembo drilled rotors "we do not warrantee drilled rotors against warpage" -
I blamed the rotors.
I was going to replace all rotors with the standard non-drilled units when I stumbled across a post regarding this phenomenon on THIS wonderful forum. The website had pictures of "warped" rotors from this and there were dark spots on the faces of the discs.
I pulled the discs and sure 'nuf... there were the spots!
$50 later and I installed the newly-turned rotors back on the car and followed the "bedding" procedure described in Zeckhausen Racing's website.
I got my brakes so hot there was smoke coming out of the fenderwells.
That was Sunday night. The brakes feel great now, and there is NO VIBRATION at all, even on the highway (this part doesn't make sense to me... I can't believe that I warped the rotors so bad that they threw the wheels out of balance ? ).
Anyway I am happy, but I haven't driven the car enough to convince me that this won't happen again even after properly bedding the pads.
I won't run the risk with the SRT8. I will install a different set of pads to get rid of this damn brake dust problem, but not EBC AnyStuff.
One comment regarding drilled rotors:
I have installed drilled rotors on two cars and the only difference I noticed was the noise and buzzing feel from the holes when braking. They look cool, but I will NOT install drilled or slotted rotors on the SRT8.
The SRT8 brakes feel so nice after living with the "buzzing" from my BMW drilled rotors for so long, I will never do this again.
Sorry - what website/post has info on the "pictures of "warped" rotors from this and there were dark spots on the faces of the discs.?
I am amazed at how little he knows about brakes...
THANK GOODNESS WE HAVE YOU DAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
can you imagine what it would be like if we did not?
half of the SRT8 posts would still be about brakes, dust, rotors and such that don't satisfy us...
let me tell you Mr. Zeckhausen you are and have been a savior to many here.
Thanks for everything.
And keep up the great work.
Sincerely,

I completely concur with your statements, CB, about our own in-house Dr. Z. Dr. Zeckhausen that is. The man knows his brakes, that is his only business. Not only has he been very instrumental in helping the LX set. He has been helping others for longer than that.
10 years ago, Dr. Z of brakes, was such a huge help nationwide for the 94-96 Impala SS owner's. We didn't have dusting issues we needed better pads to help bring that large BeaSSt under control. Dr.Z would fly out to various cities and give clinic's, show proper bedding in, etc.
I am glad that Dr. Z, like me, loves large RWD sedans. He had a very nice Impala SS. Plus saw a good thing in the 300,Magnum,Charger, after waiting 10 long years for someone to release a kick butt RWD 4 door. When I joined the 300C Forums and saw Dr.Z was already a supporting vendor. I knew I was in good hands.
Dr. Zeckhausen is Da Man, Ya!!

wow - this was a great article -- thanks Mr. Zeckhausen!
Two follow up questions about two different cars:
1. I have a Bonneville SSei with front disks. I have been stumped by a significant juddering when breaking from higher speeds - seems like it may be this problem, or similar (local brake shop said "Brakes look fine!"). I don't see any discoloration spots as shown here (but do feel with my finger some slight indented rings around the disk surface). Thoughts? Could I still have the transfer issue but can't see the spots, or is it more likely related to the rings? Should I print the article and take it with me to the dealer (not the local brake shop)?
2. I have a new SRT8 with about 450 miles on it. Should I have broken in(seated?) the brakes as discussed in this thread and described by the article or does the factory take care of that?

For the Pontiac, it sounds like it may be time to replace the rotors, if you can feel grooving. You didn't mention how many miles on the car, but new rotors are cheap and they will cure your brake judder problem. You may want to try the bedding process first, to see if it helps.
For the SRT8, you should bed in the brakes as soon as it's convenient to do so. The factory does not do this for you.
As much as we all appreciate the good news, DCX and Brembo are going to be releasing the Brake fix in June. Since this is a warranty issue, I would recommend that we all wait for the fix to arrive. I know I will be.
