I'm sorry! I wasn't hunting for kudos. What I think is cool is that by having this on-line SRT8 community, we (the community) were able to identify a problem common to all SRT8s, establish that a market existed for aftermarket pads for a brand new platform, and create product demand fast enough that a major manufacturer took us seriously and created two product lines (C-Tek and Centric Posi-Quiet) that solve the problem. In the pre-Internet days, we would have suffered along quietly for a few years before anything became available. That's what I think is cool and the kudos should go to the forum.

Now I've just discovered that my wife's 2007 Corvette Z51 Coupe has directional cross-drilled rotors, but GM only made LEFT rotors! So the passenger side rotors are backwards and will run hotter than non-directional rotors - meaning the right front rotor will probably crack when my wife takes it to the track. I've already been in discussions with Centric about having their foundry come up with true directional slotted rotors for the Corvette. We'll see if I can leverage my credibility with the SRT8 pad market to make this happen. Why would a manufacturer bother to make directional rotors and then only make them in the left side configuration?? (Oh well - I'm getting off topic on my own thread!)

Sorry, Dave, but the power of the Internet, and our forums, is well know to all.

Kudos, appropriately, are issued to deserving individuals on a by-occasion basis.

They're appropriate here. Again, Kudos to you!

Got the pads Dave, put them on today. Piece of cake. Easiest brake job in my life. Cleaned up the wheels nice.

Bedded the pads, I'm all set.

I think we could even go even further with our community. What if we all gave $5.00, and hired a broker to invest it in DCX stock, think how much power we would have as shareholders. HMMMMM.

Which ones creates the LEAST amt of dust?

Centric Posi-Quiet or C-tek?

I am so sick of my pitted wheels, dust is more of a priority than overall braking performance.

Through all my research I landed on the centric posi quiet pads, because they are a little bit of a better pad all around, they have the shims already on the rear pads, and offer the best overall performance. They are basically the same as c-tek pads, they are just the next level up. Both are good pads, the centric posi quiets are just a bit better. I had them put on yesterday, compliments of DAN SS2471. Can't say which ones have more dust, but I have put about 100 miles on the car since the install and have no more dust on the wheels then a 100 miles ago. In a head to head comparison centrics may have a tad bit more dust because they are a little more of a performance pad, but compared the the stock pads, it won't matter either way because the dust will be much less with the c-teks or the centric posi quiets. I love the Centrics, I couldn't be happier with them. When u go on Zeckenhaus's website you will see that the Centric posi quiets are the #1 recommended.

p.s. My brakes feel just as good as they did before or at least 99% as good. Unlessyou are doing road racing you will probably never be able to feel the difference with the centric posi quiets.

To add to the last post - the C-Tek pads were first to market and provided immediate relief to the crazy dust problem and rotor scoring early last year. For most users, they were also quieter than the stock pads. However, in humid climates where the car spends the night outside (e.g., Florida, Louisiana) or when the car is garaged after being washed or rained on, the C-Tek pads tended to squeal on the first two or three applications of the brakes. In addition, on my own car, the rear brakes started to squeal until I transplanted the original shims onto my C-Tek pads. That, along with an aggressive bedding session, fixed the problem for me.

Late last summer, the Centric Posi-Quiet pads became available. They are also an extremely low dust pad, with just a tad more dust than the C-Tek. But still far, far less than stock. They come with glued-on composite shims and are much better than the C-Teks at avoiding squeal. I've used these pads on some other platforms to solve chronic squealing that couldn't be fixed any other way. The Posi-Quiet pads live up to their name. They also, as mentioned above, do have better bite, higher friction level, and greater resistance to fade. When the C-Tek pads were the only game in town, they were the obvious choice over the stock pads. But now, the Centric Posi-Quiet pads are the no-brainer choice for curing the dust, squeal, and rotor scoring issues.

Just wanted to say thanks to Dave and DZeckhausen for the pads I received. I am very glad that Dave took time to explain to me what I required and got the pads to me super fast. Top notch customer service. Makes me really glad that he is one of our supporting vendors and highly recommend that anyone else on the forum that needs brake parts call Dave ASAP.

PS. I priced the stock pads at my local dealership and just the rear pads cost $300.00 (not installed), thanks to Dave I saved over $200 and put the pads in myself in about 25 minutes. Thanks to Dave I have some extra drinking money for the weekend now!

Anyone notice how much HARDER it is to push down the pedal w/the Posi-quiets?

My wife is now PISSED-OFF that she has this increased pedal pressure. Stopped passed the line in the intersection b/c she wasn't expecting this.

I bedded the brakes like was suggested.

Think I need to flush/bleed the fluid? Turn the rotors (not scored, not warped right now)?

I may have to fish for the old pads out of the garbage cans and put the OEMs back on if it doesn't start improving soon.

*sigh...I just HATE the brake dust!

Did you just put the pads in recently or have you put some miles on them yet? They're going to get stronger as they take on the shape of your old rotors. And a second bedding session after a couple weeks will improve things still more, since you'll finally have full contact between pads and rotors.

I met a friend for lunch yesterday who had just picked up a 2007 Charger SRT8 on Saturday. After lunch, we came back to my house and installed a set of the Centric Posi-Quiet pads. With just 80 miles on the car, the wheels were already pretty dusty. I installed pads while he washed his wheels. I took the Charger out and bedded the brakes right afterwards. Since the rotors were virtually brand new, the pedal feel came back very quickly and, by the time the brakes cooled off, the pedal felt indistinguishable from stock.
