Anyone measuring a stop yet? Extra 10 feet to stop 0-60 is about a 10% downgrade over stock brakes and can mean the difference in an accident situation, not just for racing. I know I have emergency braked a couple feet off someones bumper before. I said before I even bought the car and I saw the complaints about the dust and that is you are buying a 4200+lb sports car that can stop better than most vehicles on the road, and that will cost you something. I think the trade off will end up being money with ceramic pads. You can put a harder compound pad on to lessen the brake dust, but probably at the cost of performance, that is why Pep boys sells those life time pads, but cannot sell you life time rotors. The pads are so hard they eat through rotors before it wears the pads down.

Brakes are just as important as HP and torque in a performance car, so someone please do the performance testing. I have a feeling it is taking Chrysler a while to find a pad because they do not want to down grade their performance #'s while they fix the problems.

It's the tires that determine the stopping distance numbers, not the selection of pad compound. If a set of aftermarket pads had a lower Cf, that would simply translate to higher pedal effort to achieve the same braking force. In a panic stop with Brake-Assist and ABS working for you, you will not see a change in the stopping distance numbers. I can saturate the tires on command, getting into ABS, with the C-Tek pads just as easily as I can with the stock pads.

Where you might see a change is in the fade-limited scenario. If a set of aftermarket pads has a lower maximum operating temperature, they may start to drop off in friction level sooner than the stock pads. By sooner, I mean after 8 (back-to-back) high-speed stops versus 12 high-speed stops. Or on lap 4 at Lime Rock vs Lap 7.

For day-to-day street driving, you aren't giving up one lick of stopping distance by switching to C-Tek, Hawk HPS, Hawk Ceramic, or Pep Boys special.

Rambit may have been the first to whine about brake dust, but I was the first person to note rotor scoring (or more precisely, my M3 driving brother who noted at 500 miles "what's wrong with your rotors?"). Unfortunately, I've been too busy to read posts every day (although I do catch up and read them all).

Therefore, I hereby authorize you to cancel Rambit's order (garage queen that he is) and redirect the new pads to me (drag racing, hard driving maniac that I am).

Jeez Matt, you're a day late and a dollar short. I jumped right on it just like we did getting an 05 SRT8. You must have seen the post referring to you. I agree you were the first with the scoring, so I think it's only fair we should screw the other Matt over. You should get his. I bought one of those spreaders too and it seems super easy to do.

There he is!!! What's up JMatt?! Hey, I was rootin' for ya to get them but don't worry, we'll be the guinea pigs on this one (unlike how you always are) and if they turn out to be the solution Dave should have more set available soon.

Unless......Hmmmm, cancel my order eh Bernie? That ain't gonna happen, but considering this is a capitalist society I'd be willing to part with them for say oooooh.....$300?

Can I start the bidding?

Bernie I am with you. I got the pad tool as well and should be a snap to change out. Especially after Dave's great write up. Plus Man can never have too many tools in his lifetime, lol.

From my Private PM's with Dave... I was thinking about you, Matt and my neighbor that bought my 05'. at least there are some options. I bought the Spreader Tool too (It's a smile everytime I think of that phrase, "Spreader Tool").

Correct. Unless he likes the Posi-Quiet rear pads, in which case there would be no reason to swap again until it's time for new pads.
