So Rambit, this is what they were working on for 6 months and the fix that 'were going to like'? And that's straight from the engineers' keyboard from the February chat session when you asked the question. I followed up in March and the same engineer said they were still working on it. He even mentioned himself as being 'the guy who answered you last month'. Said they had the solution and were making final touches to 'put it to bed for good this time'. What a load of total crap. How do these people even keep showing up for these sessions? 'Call your dealership'. Give me a break. Obviously these guys don't drive Chrylsers because they've clearly never been to a 5-star stealership.
Hey DZeck...Please let me know when the next batch of pads comes in. If I had known this was going to be the 'fix' I would have stopped by your shop last week and picked up one of the 5 sets.

Yep. Same old, same old. Now I have a guy on my case at lxforums who claims he knows Dan Bodine and Team SRT is totally wrong about this. I gave up over there. Just for general interest sake...
You figure out who has the better inside information. I'm just tired of dealing with it and my pads go on tomorrow. I've searched everywhere for a 21mm nylon socket. I'm going with duct tape. If it's good enough for Red Green, it's good enough for me. Anyone remember the thread "Where to send your brake complaints to..."? Oh, it was to Dan Bodine.

What is the purpose of slotted rotors? I thought they prevented overheating and thus fade, but we don't have a fade problem.
On the other hand I wonder if slotted rotors would eat pads even faster, with the corners at the trailing edge of the slots cutting the pad a little bit all the time.
How is this a solution for brake dust or rotor grooving?
The purpose of slotted rotors is to channel the gas and abraded brake material that is created under extreme use out of the rotor/pad contact area. This serves two purposes, one by removing the outgas layer(which in effect becomes a friction reducer) brake function is improved, along with reduced temperature. The grooves are machined so that rotor rotation also assists this process. Cross drilled rotors do the same thing, although less efficiently and with a great reduction in overall strength and warp resistance. Probably will not change the dust generated if the same pad material is used, although the change in dispersion characteristics might improve the amount that is deposited on the wheels. We will just have to get some of the rotors, run them, and see what happens, but it should be an improvement for high performance users.

I cannot believe how rude they were to you over there, Rambit. Totally uncalled for, here you try and offer some constructive advice and they trash you for it. THEY were wrong about the pads and it was proven, yet they refused to believe you. Today "Trainwreck" jumps on the thread out of nowhere and rudely tells you "to shut the F up...". Yet he did not have one single piece of worthwhile advice per the brake issue. I noticed he later edited the thread and it is now closed. Definitely a lower level of maturity with some of the members there.

Yeah, well you win some and you lose some. The thread is now sitting at the bottom of a deep dark hole now, never to be seen or heard of again. I have no problems with lxforums as a whole though. As for the 2 comments that came out of the blue, interestingly both of them were banned from here. That I'm sure had a lot to do with it. Not worth fretting over and what's done is done. Thanks for your input RS in spite of them not listening or understanding what you were saying. Time to move on.

The SRT engineers said today "no new pads", only that slotted rotors would be replacing current rotors starting with the 2007 models...
Thats exactly what I wanted to hear from them. My worry is if they change the pads the stopping power will suffer, and I do not want that. This is exactly why the car is a SRT, it goes fast, it handles like its glued to the road, and it STOPS on a dime.
I realy dont care about the dust, what I want is stopping power and I have it. If the slotted rotors will make stopping even better then thats a great bonus to us.

Probably want to add me to the list too. Maybe Dan and I can go in halfs on the spreader or better yet maybe Dave Z. can put the pads on for us. For me it would be worth the ride up to have Dave Z. personally do my pads and bed them too............
