RobertV thanks for information and pictures. You’re right it would be the only thing that would fit the cargo area. In a pinch you do what you must do.

Question on the donut spare....When inflated and installed on the rear of the vehicle, does the donut have the same circumference as the original wheel and tire?

RobertV, does your Maggie sit so low in front you cannot get a jack under it, like a CSRT-8 does? If so, how would you get the front end up for access in the event of a front wheel flat?

please research

I would like to remind all the do it yourselfers that there are specific places for your jack. DO NOT just slip a jack under your car and start lifting.

There are too many people who may hurt themselves trying to get under their car!

Setting the question of equivalent circumference aside for the moment, does this essentially mean if we could find a donut spare from a 5.7 ( AWD if possible) it will fit on the rear hubs of an SRT8 and also fit into the spare well?

Seems to me even if the circumference of the 5.7 spare is somewhat smaller, it's a spare and not intended for much distance driving so that should not be a major issue. So perhaps calling around a few salvage yards could locate one for less money that building one?

Can you give us the specs on the spare, like the type of rim, tire, and where they were purchased? Also, can you confirm that this spare will work on front and back wheels? I figure, if nothing else, I will get one just to take on long trips. With a new daughter, I can't risk being stranded. Thanks in advance for your info.!!

I remember reading RovertV's prior thread/post sometime ago where he had successfully mounted a '300C' or 'Magnum' space-saver spare on the rear of his car, but also noted that it would not fit on the front; therefore, suggesting that one could move an existing rear up front and then utilizing the space-saver spare on the rear whenever a flat front tire problem occurs while out 'on the road'. I thought that this was a great idea and an excellant solution to the problem.

Has anyone tested this on a CSRT8 yet?

I like the idea. If the circumference of the tire is smaller than the stock wheel/tire, does is cause any mechanical issues with the rear end of the vehicle?
