srt8 in the snow?

I will be picking up my 07 300C srt8 this week and was wondering how they handle in moderate snow? It is coming with the "all season tires". Any comments would be helpful.

Thanks, J.D.

Hi just thought I would comment about winter driving. I have 2006 SRT8 with new RSA, old F1 died early, 28k front, 36k back! Now have about 44k on car. This car is awesome in the snow, I travel a lot selling insurance, mostly country and highway driving, some back roads, I have not had any problem as long as I do not go into places that have low clearance. SRT8 tracks wonderful in the snow, the ESP comes on a lot and that makes driving interesting, I have yet to drive with it off, maybe better. Just have nothing but the best to say about the SRT8, I have driven more than a million miles over the last thirty years and the 8 is the most comfortable drive I have had other than 4 wheel drive land rovers and the such. I live in BC (Canada) interior so I see a variety of winter conditions. Best car I ever owned, second best was 68 polara 383 x police, great car. 68 coronet 426 4spd was great too! Love those HEMI's!

First of all welcome to the forums JD and congratulations on your upcoming purchase of a SRT8! These really are amazing rides that will put a permanent smile on your face!

Since I don’t have much snow in south Florida I can only go on what I’ve read from members that do have snow. I guess the F1’s aren’t the best in snow as demonstrated by the thread below. The all seasonal tires seem to do better. I wish you luck and hope to hear more about your new ride. You may want to post in the new members forum so others may welcome you.

Congratulations on your new SRT purchase! Like danno, I'm afraid I can't help with the tire evaluation because of my location. Anyway, welcome to the 300c forums and make sure to post again with any questions or pics of your SRT after you pick it up.

I live in northern VA. We don't get a lot of snow every year, but we do get enough to talk about at least once a winter. Last winter(my first with the SRT8) I couldn't drive it. I have the RSA's. I couldn't get out of my neighborhood. Rolled down the drive way, got to the street and the tires would just spin. Even at idle in drive(ESP on), letting off the brake and the wheels would just start spinning and the car wouldn't move. I even got out of the car and walked around it. It was just sitting still spinning the wheels. She wasn't going anywhere.

my 2nd winter in Buffalo NY with the srt and RSA's. I will admit that with some hard 13k miles on the tires its not as good as last year. That being said im VERY impressed with the ability of the srt in the snow. The ground clearence is certainly its weakest point.

Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your car! As for an SRT in the snow, I don't have any experience. But I know that the dealer by my house has sold a few sets of snow tires and rims for SRT's. I myself wouldn't take the chance with a beast like the SRT!!

I drive my SRT here in Northern Michigan year round. I am on 18 inch Blizzaks.

At work I drive a Crown Vic with Good Year Ultra Grips.

The SRT is head and shoulders better in the snow and ice than the Ford. Here is a link with my setup: Waiting for the snows... - Dodge Charger Forums

This is obviously a combination of better tires and ESP. I also think that the Ford anti lock system is inferior to the DCX system but without comparing them with the same tires this is just a guess.

The only concern is when the heavy stuff is piled up at the end of drive ways and cross streets. The low clearance is a concern. I am not so much concerned about getting stuck as damaging the facia.
