Rotor TSB Denied

My wonderful dealership denied to replace my rotors today due to the car is over 12 months old and has over 12000 miles on it. Has anyone else heard of this restriction?

P.S. They did offer to turn my stock rotors for $240. I have 17000 miles on the car. Bullcrap!!

They denied me too, I was under the 12 months but over the 12,000 miles ( I had 35,000 miles). I bought the 4 rotors and the pads ($521 total for all, Employee pricing) and did the install myself. F Them and their $1200 (estimate) brake job. These brakes are so easy, my 11 year old daughter could do them in an hour or less!

Dan

Are they as easy as Benz Brakes? (Single set screw holding on the rotor after removing the caliper)

Thanks

Meech

Yep, wear parts are limited to 12/12. But, if you got the problem logged before you hit that limit, it should be pretty easy to get them to do the TSB.

Mine had 14k by the time the TSB came out, but I had reported it to the dealership when I just had a few thousand on it.

You might try a different dealership as others have reported similar results and did find another dealership they could strike a deal with. Good luck!

monkey business

Recall when the TSB first came out if was for 12 months or less than 12,000 miles. It took too long to get the fix figured out, many of us had already broken the criteria from the get go. However, a dealership and service department should be managed to encourage repeat business. There are way too many dealers out there than to stick with a dealer that wont work with you, especially on a known and documented shortcoming.

Several people here have had a free replacement long after the warranty on the brakes expired, providing it was documented. jMatt's name comes to mind in his long saga and he was successful. He got his car a day before me.

SUPER easy....I can't remember if there's a set screw, but if there is I wouldn't even bother putting it back on.

The ONLY reason there's a set screw is to hold the rotor to the hub during assembly line....I had some on my truck and they were seized so I drilled them out. Never had any issues.
