Angry ARRRGH ASA rims and snow tires!!!

I ordered ASA 19 inch rims and Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snows from Tire rack.

Wheels/Tires get delivered today and I am very excited to get them mounted. Jack up the car change 2 of the wheels no problem. Get to the third and it wont go over the studs.... I think to myself WTF is going on here? Take off the fourth wheel and try it on that side...No Go. Tire rack mounted and balanced a defective wheel for me...

I tried the dremel to clean it up a bit (in case there was casting flash or paint blocking it it didnt work...

Good news is Tire rack is sending me another wheel and giving me a credit to remove the old tire and re-balance when the rim gets in. Bad news is I am driving around with 3 snow tires and one F1 in the right front for at least a week LOL!

That said the snow tires make a HUGE HUGE difference even with just three on the car. We have mountains of snow here on the east coast of Canada and I got through everything and the ESP barely engaged. It is ridiculous how good these Pirelli snow tires are.

Anyways I'll let you know how things work out. Driving this car in the snow is NO PROBLEM with these snow tires. I was going to add a couple sandbags in the trunk to help get more weight over the rear but from what I experienced today there is no need at all.

Cheers,
Chris

Sorry you had such strange trouble with your tires from TireRack. At least they’re making it good. By the sounds of the weather up north you’ll need those nice snow tires to help you out. Does it feel strange having that one F1? Good luck and I hope your replacement arrives quickly.

Thanks man, I am sure it'll work out but it was a pain. I spent two hours trying to get it to fit

You can notice the F1 during braking and left turns but it isnt bad. I'll creep around on it till the other wheel gets here.

Cheers,
Chris

The cost was around 1100 USD plus shipping for the complete package including lugs, road forced balanced etc.

I'll get pics up tomorrow of the "good" side

Cheers,
Chris

Can you post pics? I'd like to see the 19s compared to the 18s.

I assume you're doing this without TMP sensors in the winter set? I think that would add about another $250...
