Cold tire question

K I got past the tires "popping" while backing out of a parking spot issue but do find myself spinning more than I'd like on dry pavement but it's cold outside so...

Do the tires "warm up" after driving say a 1/2 hour of freeway travel?

Do others experience this?

Temp 20 degrees here and while I don't think I've roasted the rubber as of yet, I have been getting a little busy on em!

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

Happens to mine as well since it's been cold and yes, the tires will rise in pressure as they warm. You can monitor your tire pressures through the EVIC... its under System I believe, around the 3rd option. Mine will raise 2-3lbs+ on average after a half hour of travel.

Gotcha, thanks that's what I figured the rubber compound regardless of road travel just doesn't warm up enough. Only a little while before spring alas I'll survive!

I do love them when it's nice and hot outside joy!

The F1's are a max performance summer tire. In cold temps the rubber compound is hard as a hockey puck. They just don't grip.

Be careful!

I maintain 32 PSI cold in mine. I'm in NJ so the temps have been similar to your area and I've been seeing a #3-4 increase after some drive time. F1s. And no, these tires DO NOT like these cold temps.

I'm not familar with the popping sound you mentioned. Sure it wasn't residual rock salt? That question is probably on par with an offshore technician asking you if your Dell is plugged in when you call to say you can't get any audio. But I to ask..

The popping is NOT rock salt. Happens here in south Texas on a cold day, and by cold I mean 50 F.... with no salt in sight. Speaking of tires heating up. You wanna have fun: pull your car out of an air conditioned garage, at 72 F, then go drive on asphalt that is literally melting and arrive in Laredo where the temperature is 106 F when you get there. The pressure has changed up to 9 lbs. when I did that.

Careful Mojo you’re talking about an air conditioned garage to a group who are in the midst of an “Ice Age” up north. Some of them can get pretty testy and start hitting innocent people over the head. Jealously can be such an ugly thing

I will admit that the air conditioned garage was not built for the SRT8, but another Chrysler that happens to live there as well. A 1955 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible, that took 3rd at the Chrysler Nationals in 2004. So it gets babied. The SRT8 just happens to fit in there as well.
