Snow Review

Early this week my area experienced 18" of the white stuff over a 2-day
period. The roads were in various stages of conditions. Virgin white snow
in 6" increments over the 2 days, that you had to blaze a trial through. Mixed snow that I refer to as 'brown sugar' which is very slippery and sticks to tires like glue. And finally the thin layer of snow that blows on the road filling every crack in the asphalt, more like grafite....

After driving a 5 series for 5 years on snow tires and with the BMW stability system and having no problem with any conditions, I was concerned with what I would face with the 300 srt. I do have the blizzak DM5 snows on
18" borbet wheels.

I have to say that I got around town just fine. Interesting to see 4-wheel
drive vehicles having a bit of a time of it while I just pulled straight forward from a stop light. The system at time will allow some wheel spin, and then other times not allow any and retard the engine speed to keep you going. I have not tired to get the car to break loose from the rear, and will try to do so in an empty parking lot. The BMW would not let you tail spin the car out of control, which is more commonly knows as 'doing dounuts'.

Very impressed with traction control and anti skid features.

"if ya got em, drive em..."

Nice report, Mopar! It's amazing all the wonderful things owners discover about their 300s under various conditions. Your description of the heavy snow fall sounds pristine but I'm going to send you some of our Central Cali. 70 degree weather to start the melt! Happy weekend!

Pretty cool report and I would have not expected this .....then again I cant ever remember driving around with my traction control on ... .Good to know if I needed it ....it would be there though I only have my F-1's on . I leave the tough work to my Jeep GC overland....which simply blew me away with this weeks snow and ice we had in NY . Traction/yoke control is an amazing thing ......when needed..... _Mike .

My SRT8 is a beast in snow as well. Extremely stable. I have the old style front so I plow a little in snow over 6 inches but nothing serious. I have the 19 inch ASA ST3 and 255/50/19 pirelli scorpion snow tire combo.

We got some heavy wet snow in the last few days and with the original Conti's on my 06 AWD C is pretty helpless. Thank God you can partially disable the TC. If I was going to have it next winter I'd definitely put some snow tires on it.

Not mine! Covered with salt and grit and dirt here in NE but I'd rather be driving 7 days a week 12 months a year in my beast and let the detail guys take care of the mess in the spring. I have 18" winter wheels with Pirelli Scorpions to get me through the snow ( what little we had this year). I've had the blizzaks on my RWD cars before and they are snow tigers. The Pirellis are much better on wet and dry pavement, which is most of the time, and wear longer, and why I got them, so the SRT is a little more skittish in the snow, but it gets by. I'm happy.

Did a bunch of donuts in last weeks snow storm in a big cul de sac in our office complex - you can really get the car spinning with the traction control off and all those horses at the rear wheels. Woo Hoo! Great ( safe) fun.

This is a great review Mopar Time and I’m glad to read you were able to get around. I know the snow tires seem to help people, but I’ve always wondered if it would plow snow with its low front end. Thanks for sharing.

Y2K5SRT that picture is a classic!! It just reminds me of someone approaching the edge of a swimming pool and dipping their big toe into the water to test it. I can almost see the poor thing shivering in the cold. Thanks for the great chuckle!
