Scored Rotors

Just a quick question in reference to my rotors. I have a 2006 Chrysler 300C SRT8 with 940 miles on it. I can see the beginning of a groove starting and wonder how much of the scoring should show before I return to my dealer.

Here you go. I would go ahead and take it to the dealership an have them make note of the grooving. They may go ahead and order the parts for the TSB anyway. If not you at least have a record of complaint. The links below outline the TSB and the other is Eric’s excellent photographic thread on what the grooves look like and how they’re replaced. If you have further questions don’t hesitate to ask.

I agree. I wouldn't hesitate to take it in. My drivers side front had 2 grooves towards the outside of the rotor. The passenger side rear rotor looked ok no grooves. As you will read on the other threads, only one has to be grooved.

Here's the rule of thumb--If you can see it, then it's grooved. Replace them.

i took mine in to the dealership a few days ago, and mentioned that the brakes were squealing. that's all it took. half an hour later i received a call where the manager informed me that the rotors were scored and that well whaddya know, there's TSB out abotu it. they replaced my rotors with the slotted ones by the end of the day without a hassle.

While you're in there tell them that your transmission is shifting funny and "shuddering"

New TSB: Dipstick Tube Seal Leak, trans shudder - 05-06 LX (#21-003-06 / Feb 2006)

Don't wait for it to happen. I feel the contamination could possibly cause long term effects. This should be done as preventative maintenance for sure!

Talking Update on Rotors

Went to my dealer today and had no problem with getting the slotted rotors ordered. Will go back Monday to have the old ones replaced. Thanks to all for the help!

Congratulations on the rotors being ordered. Glad you didn’t have any hassle with your dealership over it. Should be a nice smooth install. Let us know how it goes.
