i have 420s on 20's (need to post pics) and after road force balance they are very good tires. I was also concerned about the SUV deal but all the options were SUV. Forget the SUV classification it is on there because the can handle the weight load.
Generally, the way a tire handles a greater weight load is to do things like stiffen the sidewall and add WEIGHT to the tire. That extra rotating inertia is a performance killer.
JMatt: you seem to be 'in the know' when it comes to Nitto. I found your comment interesting about the invo series tire not being a truck/SUV tire. Do you konw if the same is true about the 420S tires - every where I've seen them, they are listed as truck/SUV tires. This is the only thing that has concerned me about these tires thus far. Your help is most appreciated.
Looking forward to your review of the invo series!!!
I've not asked about that tire, but I can. For me, the INVO was a step down from what I am really interested in, which is the drag radial. The INVO is their highest performance tire CURRENTLY available in our sizes. I'm going to go with 4 of these, then hopefully switch the back tires to the drag radials. I'll keep the forum updated.
Thanks jmatt for the info, but one note is the NITTO Tires are (W) speed rated which is less than what we have (Y).
Just a note...
I hadn't noticed that. Apparently with the NITTO's you shouldn't exceed 168 for an extended period of time. 168 all day long, but 169 and over only in short bursts.
JMatt, are they available now? And how much do they cost? I couldn't find any info.
The drag radials do not exist yet. The INVO's do, but the size isn't shown on the web site yet. See my first post for the actual product code number for ordering purposes.
JMatt,
Care to elaborate on why you do not like Toyos as much? Any word on whether or not they can make the Toyo T1R in our size...or should I say can you ask? Thanks.
Eric

Proxes 4 has a treadwear rating of 300
Toyo T1R has a rating of 280
Nitto INVO has a rating of 260
Remember 1) lower is typically better - if stickiness is your goal
2) Some people suggest you can't compare unless it's the same manufacturer. Nitto is a division of Toyo.
