Dealer says no the rotor TSB?

So a friend of mine has a magnum SRT8 06 with 8k miles, I told him the other day about the rotor tsb as well as the trans flash TSB. He called a local chrysler dealer, and dodge dealr today, both asked the same question "last 8 of the vin", after giving it they told him his car dosen't get either TSB. It clearly has scored unslotted rotors, and it will clearly nails the rev limit in 1st "auto stick". Any ideas on what to try to get these done?

Tomorrow I am taking my my 300 SRT8 to a diffrent chrysler dealer to have a remote start installed "dealer threw it in on my deal" and I hope to get them to do the trans and rotor tsb's for me as well. When I mentioned the trans tsb, the service guy told me he has "never heard of it" and he would have to get the drivabilty guy to drive it to see it anything needs done or not. I feel like I am screwed as well?!

I plan on taking printed copies and hitting them over the head with them.

any other ideas or input would be great!

Other than printing the TSB and showing it to them...I don't know what else you can do. Not sure why they wouldn't do it - don't they get reimbursed for TSB labor/parts??

G'luck!

Looking up VIN’s for the rotor/tranny TSB's is absolute BS! Instead they should be saying hell yes come on in! Your buddy only has 8k miles and rotors that are scored? No way should they be turning him down. The only time we’ve had reports of dealerships refusing the rotor TSB is because of mileage….not because a VIN didn’t qualify it.

As for the transmission TSB that's even more BS. The 2007's came with it fixed, but the TSB is specifically for the 05's and 06's......there have been no denials because of VIN or mileage. Sounds like a new dealership needs to be found. Ridiculous.

There should absolutely be no trouble with any of this being done by a responsible and worthy dealership......definitely dealership BS!!

Take the copies with you. I am going to do that with mine when I bring it in to get the flickering light problem fixed. I called the dealer and they were unaware of this problem. I told them, don't worry I have copies of the TSB. Good luck!!! I don't know why they are not more educated.

Because they don’t hang out where all the “with it” and “highly educated” 300 owners hang out……right here!

when i went into my CX dealer i described the problem 1-2 shift problem. the service rep looked at me and said "i've never heard about that problem and i'll look into it." i then handed him the tsb printout and said, "i'll save you a step." he then said he'll have to check the manuf. date of my car to see it it applies. after about an hour he called me back and said, "yes, we'll go ahead and update your transmission per the tsb."

hopefully you can find a dealer that will work with you on this. it's your right to have it done.

Why bother? They're obviously an inferior service department. Who knows what they'll do to the car if they agree to do the TSBs. You know where I'm going with this.

Go somewhere else.

Good luck- many dealers are a pain on these TSBs. I had to threaten to trade my car in twice for a BMW in front of everyone waiting in line and complain about the poor quality and workmanship in order to get results on the rotors and also in the common tranny leak.

I know too that these dealers get paid by Chrysler to do the warranty work that they perform on these cars, so I asked myself why they would turn down any work. It seems that they would have listings of the TSB's that need to be performed on all Chrysler cars on the billboards in front of their buildings. I enquired to an industry person as to why this may be the case and the answer made a lot of sense. Dealers get rated on the amount of warranty work they do versus the amount of cars they sell. It is part of the inter-dealership ratings. Of course Chrysleer wants them to perform as little as possible, so as to keep their cost low and profits high. This would account for the jack assedness that is displayed by almost all of the service managers out there (there are exceptions), it is taught, and not (necessarily) a character defect, or a genetic trait sought after by district service manager recruiters. The ratings affect co-op marketing plans and product allocations, and possibly other things, as I understand. This info was not from a Chrysler dealer, but I was assured that they all work in a similar fashion. I'm just sayin.....is all.
