SRT Brakes

Does the SRT have metallic brake pads? Just got the car and dont know much about it yet. The dealer said he could order carbon fiber ones.

No, it does not come with metallic brakes, and the brake dust is going to drive you crazy unless you change the pads. I went with the semi-metallic pads from Dave who is a vendor here. I'm extremely pleased with them, and the brake dust is all but gone !!!!!

PS Congrats on your new SRT8....you're gonna love it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oops meant to say the dealer could order ceramic pads. What do you think of them? He said the ceramic would solve the dust problem and get rid of the God awful brake squeal. Does this sound accurate? What material are the stock ones made of? Thanks for the help.

my next set of pads will be ceramic from Dave Z (vendor here).
Zeckhausen Racing

if applicable, get the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) on the brakes. You can see all the TSBs here:
http://www.300cforums.com/forums/tsb-recall-forum/

And the one for the brakes:
http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_0500606.pdf

I see you have a 2006 SRT/8, you might need the TSB for the transmission:
http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_2102006.pdf

As you read through these forums, you'll find some great info on things other owners have come across. Like you did, don't hesitate to post a topic and the great members here will flood you with info. I've learned a lot from them and they'll be along soon to introduce themselves to you.

Welcome to your world.

just curious, how many of you change your brake pads yourself vs. how many buy the pads from DZ, and have your dealer do the work? i've read DZs posts on do-it-yourself changing the front pads and rear pads.

Did you buy the pad spreader? By the way everyone thanks for the input. I sent DZ an email for more info.
