yeah I understand that. Running 32 PSI on a 295 tire is going to have a larger contact patch(More Traction) than a 245 tire @ 32 PSI

They are the same front to back, not smaller. The 295 is wider period.

Guys, you gotta thank Hemmidrift even if you think it looks like poop. It takes a pair to step up and spend some cash on somthing that might not work.

I just bought 4 of these.

i dont think it would look bad if it was lowered more on top of the tires... it just makes it sit like a touring instead of a srt now

Kind of a bummer. How do they feel compared to your F1's on the street?

When are you going to the track for the real test?
Exactly. The contact patch is the same total square inches at the same psi no matter what. Perhaps we can lower the psi at the track more the wider the tire is without the tire drooping too much?

I don't know how they compare to F-1's yet. It was rainy here this morning, so I could spin freely no matter what tires I had. (The tire shop appreciated the parking lot burnout though. Nothing like doing a burnout before the tires have even 1" of forward driving on them!!!!! )

They felt pretty comfortable and stable, but I just took off Pirelli snow/ice tires. I can't really compare to the F-1's, which I took off last Thanksgiving.

I hope to go to the track next Tuesday for opening night. I'll post any 60' times I record. That should be the real teller. No differences on my car since October other than tires.

Absolutely 100% incorrect. The answer is a pure physics equation, not up for debate.

If the car puts 1000 pounds of weight on each tire (exact numbers will vary slightly), then with 40 pounds of pressure, the contact patch is 25 square inches. No debate.

Drop the pressure to 33.3psi, and the contact patch grows to 30 square inches.

At 25 psi the contact patch grows to 40 square inches.

At launch, if you could transfer 500 pounds to the rear tires, you'd now have 1500 pounds on the rear tire. at 25 psi the contact patch would grow to 60 square inches. (hence the reason to try to transfer as much weight onto the rear tire at launch.)

I'm afraid your eyes are deceiving you. A 295/40R20 is 29.2" overall diameter while the stock 255/45R20 is 29.1" overall diameter. That means the sidewall is 0.05" taller all around. Nobody could notice that difference without a tool.

This makes sense and I believe it. However, why do exotic sports car have super wide tires in back? Just for looks? I guess it's possible.

That's pretty ironic...as I was scrolling down the posts, and before I got to yours, I said to myself that I was going to get the same set up. I also have decided on the BF Goodrich G-Force KDW 2 or also NT...for New Tread (as opposed to TT or Traditional tread). I spoke to BF Goodrich for about 20 minutes yesterday and learned that BF Goodrich is owned by Michelin, who also owns Uniroyal...just a little fun fact. I just have to wait for LA Wheel to send me my chromed rims back to do this set-up. So far the cheapest place for these tires seems to be www.discounttire. Oh well, good luck. Edit...there is only a 265/35-20 not the 265/30-20. The 285 comes in a 30 series tire. BUT, I am thinking that the tire height as well as the sidewall height is too far away from stock sizes. I am not to concerned with this, but it seems that most people on ALL of these forums don't like to stray to far away from stock specs. Any Opinions.
