SRT8 wheel weight?

I need a set of track wheels. I was wondering if anyone knows what the weight is on the Chrysler SRT8 wheel alone? If you know tire/wheel weight I'd appreciate that as I can back out the tire weight and get my answer thataway.

i have read that the stock weight with the 255 tire is 70+ lbs... which to me seems CRAZY heavy considering the wheels on my STI with tires were only 31ish... again just what i've read, so take it for what it's worth

The SRT8 wheel alone is around 28.5lbs. I'm not sure about the wheel and tire together. When I got my factory Wheels chromed. I weight them to check the difference and the Chromed wheel was 29 or 29.5 lbs. Cant remember exactly!

Thanks folks. I have shelved the spare wheels idea. Too much dough right now. If I do track tires I'll change the tires before the race and change back after.

Even though you’ve scrapped your plans here is a link where that point was discussed in case anyone else is curious.

SRT Wheels...How heavy are they?

I got the same results. So if the other post is true and one SRT wheel AND tire weigh 70 lbs, that means the tire weighs more than the wheel. I don't know, but almost 42 pounds for one of our tires sounds like a bit much. I would think the combo would weigh somewhere in the 50 lb range.

Where are you getting those numbers??

I thought one SRT8 wheel with the tires on it weighs about 57-61 lbs??

The tires are heavier by like 2-3 lbs but not by much.

My info is from this thread a couple of posts up...I don't know what the wheel and tire weigh but I guessed somewhere in the 50 lb range would sound more like it (compared to 70+).

The 245/45/20 tire weighs 29lbs, the 255/45/20 tire weighs 34lbs.
That makes the total, if the wheel is as reported 28.5lbs. 57.5lbs for the front and 62.5lbs for the rears.
Hmmm, when it came time to replace tires, I'd go with the lighter 245 tire all around and not buy the 255.
