Question when replacing worn brake pads do you need to change the slotted rotors, what pads do you recommend and what does the dealer charge. thanks

You don't NEED to change to the slotted rotors if your old ones are fine. If they are in need of replacement it's probably a good idea to go with the slotted.

Now the hard question, the pads. If you're fine with the dust, squeal and rotor gouging, and only concerned with performance, you can always get the OEM's from the dealer. Beware, they're outrageously expensive though.

Most of us have gone to Centric Posi Quiet pads from DaveZ who's a supporting vendor here. Here's the link to his page with what you need - Chrysler 300C SRT8 Products: StopTech big brake kits, stainless steel braided brake lines, tires.

They're extremely easy to install yourself, so here's his How To for that - How-To: Installing low-dust brake pads on an SRT8.

Having said all that, you may be able to have new pads and rotors from this TSB - http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_0500606.pdf. As per the TSB, if you have scoring and gouging of even one rotor they will replace ALL rotors with the slotted ones and the pads as well. Some who have had the TSB done have opted to put the Posi Quiets on and keep the replacement OEM pads for track use.

I've had grooving and grinding with the Posi Quites, went back to stock and they are much better.

Dirtier yes, but better braking wet and dry.

You don't necessarily need to. It all depends on what shape they're in. Unless you post pics it's impossible for us to tell.

check

the rotors will have a spec stamped on them for minumum thickness. Then you measure them. Note that factory ones are less than $70 each!

Slotted CAN be machined if they are thick enough. If they are smooth and still above spec then you just replace pads and bed them in.

Don't let the dealer or anyone else tell you different. The SRT8 is one of the easiest pads/rotors replacements you'll ever do!
