The sleds first snow storm...with F1 Supercars!

Well i have my winter wheels and tires...and i was going to put them on over Thanksgiving weekend, but i guess winter beat me to the punch. The SRT8 handled itself like a gentleman tho. Even with the predator tune on the car still held its ground well. I only had the TCS light come on twice for me. once when pulling out into traffic, and once when accelerating from a stop, because i forgot to put it in 2nd to start out in. other than that, it was relatively uneventful, except that i had to be VERY VERY cautious with turning, braking, etc.

the only issue i had was pulling into my office, which is notorious for terrible winter road maintenance. there was snow everywhere, and even a slow turn off the wheel resulted in my ABS going nuts. im really not sure if i am going to be able to get home, well have to see. its way too early to judge. snow tires are going on ASAP now. i shoulda done it yesterday, but my buddy with the air gun was being lazy (his TT didnt do too well either).

but anyway, its possible with light snow to use the F1s....mine are extremely worn, as anyone who has seen my burnout videos would know, and it worked okay, but i wouldnt recommend it, and i seriously wouldnt do it with any kind of snow on the ground, this was wet slush. The Pirellis cannot come too soon!

the RSA's are fine in the snow. ESP does a great job of keeping the car pointed the right direction, assuming you don't do anything stupid.

anyone have snow experience with the ever-popular Toyo's?

You're taking a very big chance there with F1's, especially nearly bald ones. Temps around 30 degrees are bad enough, but with snow...SCARY. I'd never do it. Be careful out there. They call them 3 seasons for a reason!!!

thankfully most of the drive was just wet with some slush, not much snow. it should be slowing down, and if it does, i think im taking an extended lunch to go get my snow wheels/tires and have them installed. its worth the $20, god only knows when my friend can help me.

This thread could not have come too soon. I'm inches away from trading in my 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Dually for a 2008 SRT8. The dealer on Saturday warned about performance in the snow. Obviously an issue for me in New Jersey. Now, granted this isn't Minnesota and I think I pulled the snow blower out 4 times last winter (and since Al Gore invented global warming, how much longer is it going to snow anyway?), but it's something to think about. Also, does everyone garage their SRT8? Our detached garage is full of crap, and if I clean it out for my new car, sure as hell I'd have to clear it out for my wifes car too. Thanks.

i dont garage mine, i live in an apartment complex. im just very diligent about washing it. i dont have much experience with the RSAs, i have heard they are decent in the snow, but im sure you should get snow tires. after lunch today i can probably give some feedback on how well they perform with the snow tires. either way, caution is needed with these monsters in the snow, be safe. and congrats if you pull the trigger!

Has anyone seen the Winter SOTTOZERO from Pirelli? They are car tires. The Scorpion is an SUV tire. I would post a link but this is only my second post. You'll have to Google it.

i havent seen them mentioned on here, but looking them up, im not really sure why. they look to be able to fir the 19" winter wheels that we all get, not with the ideal size, but they look like they will fit. i got the Scorpions because it was recommended by tire rack in their package, the sottozeros werent even an option, but they do look like decent tires.
